IS THE MET GALA SPIRALING OUT OF CONTROL?

Are we crazy or is the Met Gala turning into a vulgar display of self-indulgence? Each costume seems to be bigger, longer, more elaborate and MORE EXPENSIVE ! How LONG can a train be? How many exquisite feathers can be hand sewn onto a gown? If you attempt to calculate the cost of most decadent gowns, the result is financially STAGGERING. Besides being difficult to manage up the stairway entrance to the Met, how awkward must these get-ups be while trying to socialize at the party? Ezra Miller had a clever idea – he held an amazing mask of his own face, but even HE had a mile long train. Model Cara Delevingne, above, had fun without screaming for attention – she painted stripes on her legs to match her dress. How did this fun fashion event turn into a “look at me- I spent more money than you did!” contest?

  1. This self-absorption is the state of the world today. Lady Gaga’s costume was fun, though–she gave a performance.

  2. Yes. What self-indulgent idiots.

Kim Kardashian looked like she was wearing a plastic wrap that puckered around her a**, while Kanye could have doubled for the Maytag repair man.

Too much money and not enough sense.

  3. Cara Delevingne isn’t screaming for attention in that get-up? Are you kidding me? She’s basically naked. Every person in attendance was screaming for attention and you’re giving it to them by posting.

  4. It used to be that the Met Gala conjured up images of high glamour and sophistication, it is pure trash now. Not an event I would be clamoring to attend. It’s pitiful what it has devolved into.

  5. Our entire culture is turning into shit in case you didn’t notice Janet. Nothing is original anymore; everything is copied, a reboot or some degenerate nonsense that requires no talent. When was the last time you heard a song on the radio that was actual singing? Or saw a movie that wasn’t computer generated? Or a tv show that had an original concept? Or saw a dress in a store window that looked like it was worth buying? Society has jumped the shark.
