JAMES DEAN: MORE THAN YOU EVER NEEDED TO KNOW

This is the trailer for the new movie “Joshua Tree, 1951: A Portrait of James Dean.” James Preston, who plays Luke Ford on the vampire show “The Gates” plays Dean. (We fondly remember James Franco as James Dean.) It’s apparent that this movie is playing up the rumors that Dean was gay or bisexual. Somehow, as much as we loved James Dean, the gay angle isn’t going to make us want to run out and see this movie.

  1. That looks totally Brokeback… why is it that when people recreate celebrities they never look as good as the real ones did?

  2. Elin, just as the supposed new movie regarding Marilyn Monroe being played by Angelina Jolie. They look absolutely NOTHING alike and ARE nothing alike. I can’t and won’t buy it and will boycott the damn thing which is obscene in even being thought up. NOTHING beats the original!

  3. Idiot Hollyweird! James Dean is and will always be James Dean. Franco looks nothing like him.

  4. MANLY ACTORS & SINGERS have to be bi-sexual to attract max. amounts of fans.
    women are again pretty honest.

    …………….THOSE DAMN FAGGOTS!!!!!

  5. Let the dead rest in peace. So tired of HWOOD trying to create duplicates of legends. There’s only one Marilyn and I’m tired of these slutty hags imitating her. There’s only one James Dean, one Frank Sinatra, one Audrey Hepburn, one Liz Taylor, I can go on and on.

The film industry doesn’t seem to be very original these days.

  6. Sally, I would have thought being a slutty hag would be an advantage to portraying Monroe. She was, after all, one of the pre-pill iconic Hollywood sperm dumpsters.

  7. Sally, I totally agree. I have never seen a re-creation of a movie of someone’s life, whether they are alive or deceased. They are all laugable and boring. Add to that list the Jackie Onassis movie being played by the pitiful looking Katie Holmes.

  8. Exactly. There ARE no duplicates in life other than twins. We don’t WANT our very original originals duplicated and very poorly. It’s ALWAYS a sad joke of a result, and major failure!

  9. Why do you guys want impressionists? I would think a bio-pic is about interpretation. The viewer is expected to suspend his or her disbelief. Ah, the geek generation.

  10. Sebastian, Marilyn had demons and issues of her own, no doubt, but she wasn’t caught flashing her hoo ha, wasn’t busted for coke possession, and conducted herself like a lady in public. At least homegirl had the sense to keep her vices on the down low.

And yes I’m a geek and AM PROUD. LOL. If I want a biopic, I read and use my imagination. It’s far more entertaining that way. I’m not interested in seeing some douche impersonating James Dean.

  11. I absolutely loved Cissy Spaceck as Loretta Lynn. jHo as Selena and that guy who portrayed Johnny Cash. They were good. France Limon was good too.

  12. Some stories do not need to be retold, at the expense of tearing down the very fibers of respect that we have for someone who died at such a young age.The books have already been written about the life and times of James Dean, anything added to that history is totally unnecessary, and as a film will be a guaranteed flop.

  13. Sally,

I get your point RE bio’s. Actually, I do not know why Hollywood ever attempt to adapt anything (classic fiction, biography, etc.). It is a catch-22 I supposed – Hollywood is void of creativity, so has to do either remakes or adaptions, but creativity is probably more important when doing those.

Marilyn kept on the down low because one had to at that time. Crediting Monroe for keeping her sluttiness private would be like praising Rock Hudson for having controled his homosexuality. LOL!

  14. Sluttiness and homosexuality are two different things. Most starlets of the past are depraved and fucked beyond measure. Take Hayworth, Harlow, Garbo, and so forth for example, but they still maintained lady-like grace in public. Back then a fan would have never guessed Marilyn was a drug addict.

  15. Sally, in the context of our discussion, no they are not two different things.

In the fifties promiscuity and homosexuality were considered unacceptable. That is why the sex lives of people like Monroe, and people like Hudson, were kept private. And this did non necessarily have anything to do with Monroe or Hudson’s sense of privacy, or propriety. It was about protecting their careers, and the investments of their employers, the movie studios.

  16. I have seem every movie this man has ever made and I Find myself totally attracted to him and yet this man was hear before…I was ever born.. Yet when I Saw his movie and said I Liked him..She pointed out he was dead and I though what a waste this handsome attractive man who looked good and sound good and walked good and had a nice smile was nolong on this earth was sad and of course you always ask…Did he have any children and that even hurted more and there was no one on this earth that looked like him or sound like him and no family but the one good thing…I got from this was that his emotions and feelings and everything he was on tape and that is something he left for the world to share his life and feelings and what power and passion..He had offered to the world and that in its self was amazing and his wisdom is still shared thoughout the world and his role model has made the men of today in so many ways.
