James Franco is very excited about directing and starring in the amazing detailed story of serial killer Richard Ramirez “The Night Stalker” for good reason. When Ramirez was 13, he listened to his crazed Vietnam vet cousin Mike brag about the Vietnamese women he slaughtered, and witnessed Mike murdering his own wife. He grew up to become the sexy monster who terrorized Southern California in the 80’s when he killed at least 14 people and often murdered women after climbing in their bedroom windows at night. Police advised everyone to sleep with their windows locked that stifling hot summer. After his photo appeared on TV, a whole neighborhood recognized the satanist killer and there was a dramatic chase. Ramirez was a huge fan of AC/DC and his favorite song was “Night Prowler”– perfect soundtrack. He’s still sitting on death row, but the killer with the magnetic eyes managed to get married to a woman who wrote him 75 letters.

It’ll be a truly creepy film experience for Franco, who is also planning to direct. Anyone who lived in L.A. during the summer of 1984 will never forget the fear of being the Night Stalker’s next victim, especially if you lived in a light-colored building near a freeway. Not sure why Franco wants to make this movie. Now that he’s learned the intricacies of cutting off one’s own arm he can move on to cutting out people’s eyes like Ramirez did.

There are many things I will never understand, but one of them is why women write to serial killers in prison, and then marry them. How desperate and/or mentally ill they must be.

I agree the “sexy monster” comment is hideous. How ANYBODY could find anything to be attracted to in the mug of R.Ramirez is beyond me. I wish that crowd that caught him in LA had ripped his limbs out on the spot and now he wouldn’t be living on the taxpayers dime. I agree with you Denise. Those women who do that should be committed. I think part of the committed for life conviction should be getting no mail from anyone. They should have NO entertainment after raping and killing and terrorizing.
Spinner: I agree with you on Franco looking terminally ill. There are large dark circles under his eyes that are always there. I have worked in the medical field and believe me, there IS a look that terminal patients have that looks much the same as his. If he hasn’t been to the Dr in a while maybe he should schedule an appt asap!
I’ve seen video footage of Ramirez, and while numerous adjectives describing him crept through my mind at the time – possessed, deranged, and sickening being the top three, nothing even remotely close to sexy occurred to me.
Franco will no doubt rock this role, and is the only thing that would entice me to see it.

I’m so sure that the victims’ families are thrilled to know that their loved ones were tortured and killed by the scum of the earth, but that at least he was “sexy”. That must make them feel a lot better.
