Maybe the best thing about The Boy Next Door is Jennifer Lopez’s stalker, played by Ryan Guzman. Actually Jennifer is highly watchable in the film but she has little material to work with in terms of script. We admire the fact that she produced this minibudget thriller for four million dollars but like she says, most of the money is in front of the camera. It screams for a better script with more real surprises. Jennifer personally cast Guzman, 27, in the role and we can see why – he’s incredibly hot. But he doesn’t look like he’s in high school. We do agree with Jennifer that having two Latinos in the leading roles is too ”risky” for a big studio (Ryan’s father is Mexican) and applaud her for her casting. Hopefully she will do more of these B thrillers with inspired scripts.

Jennifer is interested in only one thing…extracting as much money from her mostly poor Latino fan base as possible.You can’t take the ‘street’ out of this scam artist. She is mostly talentless.

Isn’t this thread just a rewrite of the Press Release sent out by J Lo? Where is the evidence she has ever picked any talent for movies? Next it is like saying Babs Streisand or Angie Jolie are International Issues experts.
I think this guy is nice looking. Have no idea if he can act. Not a movie I’d pay money to watch at the theater. It’s one of those movies you’d watch if it aired on a basic cable station and you had nothing else to do.
Maybe it’s because I’m not American, but I don’t see Latinos as a noticeable type. Guzman doesn’t look any different than any Englishman, for example. I just don’t get it.
