NOW we know why Jessica Simpson was in TEARS at the Kennedy Center Honors. She had just found out about Lane Garrison’s tragic auto accident. (One teenage male passenger was killed and two girls were injured.) Lane was like a brother to her – they grew up in the same town and when he had problems at home, he went to live with Jessica’s dad Joe Simpson when he was a teenager. Simpson helped make Lane a star like he did his daughters. And Lane loved being famous. When he went to Ralph’s Saturday night to buy pita chips, two teen girls saw him and got VERY excited. They begged him to come to their high school party to impress their friends. Lane couldn’t resist the flattery. Just how much he had to drink before and during the party will be apparent when his blood test results come back. When Lane wanted to leave, the girls begged the boy who was killed to come along because they were a little afraid of Lane. The joy ride ended abruptly when his SUV crashed into a tree. Acquaintances of Lane are predicting that the blood test will show more than alcohol was in his system. Right now Lane’s in hiding and Jessica is still distraught.

I don’t believe for a second that’s why Jessica botched her tribute to Dolly Parton. She knows she’s not in the same league as those being honored or those other singers. She simply blew it!! Quit making excuses for her. Her dad has pushed Jessica and Ashley way beyond their capabilities, and that’s why they crater–can’t handle the pressure of an important appearance.

I agree, jessica fuked it up bec she is talentless, as is beyonce. they have just been pushed by good ol dad. beyonce will get it good tho, bec the idol reject is a much better singer and actress than her. boo hoo- It is sad about the actor and the accident. very sad that all those kids were killed or seriously hurt. The actor is a showboat, loser who has quite a jail record with his mom even turning him in at one point.
I think she messed up & is using the accident as an excuse. If she was really upset over it she would not look so happy in the picture above.

I don’t buy the Garrison car crash excuse for Simpson flubbing the song, since he wasn’t even injured in the accident.
I think it’s more likely that her nerves got the better of her, and she froze. It happens. (At least she didn’t break out into a jig.)
As far as the real story on the Garrison situation, go to tmz.com and read the comments from the BH High kids who were at the party.
They’re telling a very different story than Harland Braun, who’s got his work cut out for him if he’s planning on playing the ‘my client has temporary amnesia’ card.

Some of the blogs are saying that Jessica’s tear-filled performance with Dolly Parton was fueled by the Garrison accident, and others are saying it was a wardrobe malfunction.
I also read that Garrison’s lawyers say that someone “slipped something in his drink”– err, yea, I guess the bartender “slipped” rum into his coke. Just a theory, people.

The old show biz adage, ‘the show must go on’ rings true with genuine entertainers…I’ve worked with dancers who went on stage with broken toes & bleeding feet, and singers who had real personal problems, and you would never have known. Jess just wasn’t up to the night; she was in the big leagues there. She’s a B-lister, but will still be popular.
Shame on whoever let Jessica “do over” her song for the TV showing! I’m not going to watch, and I hope no one else does either! It’s just not right! What was filmed should be shown, not some performance put on after the show was over. That’s show biz, Ms. Simpson. You blew it!
The truly great performers take their grief and make their performances more connected, thrilling, and exciting. Diana Ross years ago found out her mother died the day of a performance and gave one of the best concerts of her life.

I agree with you 7:25 PM – she did not prepare and needs to realise that showbusiness it takes actually WORK to make it! According to TMZ her mom told her off for her performance and for NOT preparing.
