JIMMY DEAN’S “BIG BAD JOHN” MADE HIM FAMOUS LONG BEFORE THE SAUSAGES

We have a weakness for early country western music so we couldn’t let the passing of Jimmy Dean go by without comment. Before the actor James Dean was killed in 1955, he was frequently mixed up with the singer – to the dismay of both. (They even looked a bit alike.) This Jimmy was a radio star early on and his biggest hit “Big Bad John” sold a million copies in 1961. Eventually his sausage business eclipsed his singing career and he ended up on everyone’s breakfast table.

  1. This is really very sad. I can always remember women swooning over him whether he was singing or selling sausage. He seemed like such a pleasant person and he had the best voice ever for singing.

  2. Yeah, that was a cool song and I loved his deep sexy voice! And the sausage wasn’t bad either. Seemed like a generally nice guy. All the good old time people are leaving us.

  3. I never noticed this before, but he is setting off my gaydar. Is it possible? That might explain the sausage company.

  4. No way Jim was a Gay! He was married to another country singer for many years. Jim grew up poor but died a very rich man. He is a real example….not like the wanna be’s of today.

  5. This was a real man and seems a great gentleman. I love the self made guy who grew up poor and had an idea went with it. Nothing like the craps that coming out today.

  6. I loved Jimmy Dean. I remember him from years ago, and as Walter Whyte in a Roger Moore James Bond movie. His sausage is pretty sweet too. I’ll miss ya dude, you were class!

  7. OF COURSE! We couldn’t get thru ONE POST without some spastic idiot calling out the subject as “gay” with their always trustworthy “gaydar”! How disgusted ARE YOU of being YOU???

  8. Casonia Logenberry..Hells kitchen..Tommy Honey speak up and talk and take charge..I want you to stay on the show! Jennifer stop screwing up and double check your food first and Will keep your eye on the prize and don't let Drama get in your way and Pauly says:

Love the Sausage and it was good and matter of fact had not had it for along time but good no matter what way this man made it and…He could always go back to singing and just do it in small places from time to time but yes it is good to have a legancy and get known for something in life.

  9. Casonia Logenberry...Hells kitchen pass winners should have rocked the Hell out of the show..Ben looked very sexy and in wonderful shape..He slim down? Tennile was talking about body bags and Trevor Bragged on being Relaxed and Calm and sweet little Jilli says:

What ever happened to this man and yes he is getting old and matter of fact when that happens a man will hide and not want to be seen in person…

  10. Casonia...Who is going to Win Hells Kitchen? Hope it is not Elisa and hope Paul really rocks it out and Jennifer was not his type from the start and when a man is flirting with other woman his desire was never there to start off with! Tommy speak up dear! says:

HIS MEAT WAS SO TENDER AND JUICY AND YUMMY.

  11. It is getting harder and harder to find the sausage at the store but let me tell the world that it has not changed after all this years.

  12. Adlease this man made millions of dollars doing what is fun and good for him and of course he looks happy and on top of the world but he was here for a reason to make his mark in this world and show many direction in his life and thank goodness for family and love one that crossed path in life and honor him for being a good positive role model for others to follow and what point I am making is that he had something to believe in and it made him happy and it made him rich…Goody Gum Drop for him.

  13. Oh to John and loving his juicy tender meat..Add some water and allow it to soak and yummy good sausage that taste so yummy and tender and brown and perfact..HE IS HANDSOME ON TOP OF THAT AND HAD A SMALL CRUSH ON HIM AS WELL.
