Unbelievable. Those two women imprisoned in a Cleveland basement for ten years by Ariel Castro are ASKING JOAN RIVERS FOR AN APOLOGY! If you recall, Joan made an offhand comment about the tiny room she occupies at her daughter’s house and wisecracked “Those women in the basement in Cleveland had more space.” That’s all she said. Granted, the kidnap situation was far from amusing, but Joan likes to be shocking and can be interpreted as mean-spirited. (Off camera she is a very nice woman) Still, it wasn’t a direct insult to the victims – just a reference. What IS shocking is the fact that the two victims would take Joan’s remark personally and DEMAND AN APOLOGY. An apology for WHAT? Joan is right to ignore them.

  1. She is a talentless hag. Nothing about her comment was funny.

  2. Janet, you are an ugly, washed-up, elderly woman who should just die already. My comment is just a an “off-hand” comment, and not a “direct insult” to homely, talentless, old women (like you) with one foot in the grave and another on a banana peel.

  3. There is nothing funny about Joan Rivers she is a MEAN old bat. Why anyone would even bother to watch or listen to her is beyond me. I’d like to she her held for 10 years and then see how funny she thinks it is. Disgusting.

  4. Granted, your being a talentless, old hag is far from amusing, but I like to be shocking and that can be interpreted as mean-spirited. (in real life, I am a very nice woman).

Still, my comments aren’t a direct insult to you Janet, they are just a reference; a reference to you being an unattractive, embarrassing excuse of a woman. Ha ha ha, isn’t this all so funny?!

  5. I strongly disagree. Those women were raped and tortured for years. They did not ask for fame, it was thrust upon them. Joan Rivers has not been funny in decades, she is just a bitter old bag now. Comedy should not give someone the right to mock everything, something like this is not amusing in the slightest.

  6. Ha if Joan had said it about a couple of homos or lesbos or yids there would be an outrage.

  7. Gone it looks like Joan said exactly what she wanted, no one stopped her. Now she must deal with the fallout.

  8. We’ll have to agree to disagree on this one, Janet. What she said crossed the line, big time. Would she make the same joke if her daughter had been tortured and raped and imprisoned for a decade? I doubt it.

  9. JR was a trailblazer for women comics. However, that is all I can say about her. NICE IN PERSON? To whom? She has talent but she is a nasty piece of work.

  10. Well, now we know why her husband Edgar offed himself. Married to that horrible hag, I’m surprised he didn’t do it sooner.

Very disappointed with you JC. A big fan but her comment was way over the line. Vulgar, vile and hurtful.

  11. what about the 3rd woman that was kidnapped and held…wonder what she thought?

  12. Joan’s comments are disgraceful. Worse than a holocaust joke.

  13. She could have said The rats and my old shoes have more room in the basement

  14. exactly!!
well, her plastic surgeon needs help………….

  15. I adore Joan rivers, this is the one time I cringed.

But anyway, I love Joan, it must suck that she has such an uninteresting daughter, that’s is below average on every level.

  16. @Saul Ginsberg – Point is there was never a Holocaust. It was a Holohoax

  17. This comment gives her more publicity and keeps the money rolling in. She’s not the only one who stoops to a level of ignorance for money, look at the kardashians.

  18. True,,,,,but if Joan had said it about a couple of homos or lesbos or yids there would be an outrage.

  19. lighten up people it’s only an act the same way Howard Stern says things about people stop being so thin skinned

  20. I beg to differ. She’s a mean pathetic bag of chit. When she kicks it, I won’t shed a tear. There are certain things that are never funny. Being help captive and raped repeatedly is one of them.

  21. A talented comedienne would have come up with an appropriate but FUNNY comparison instead of the base and tasteless analogy Joan used. It was a reference to an abhorrent event in the lives of 3 young ladies who will never forget and Joan’s attempt at a joke minimizes what happened. The fact that you don’t get that Janet does not surprise me. ITA that if Joan’s daughter had been one of the three and someone else made the same comment, there would be absolutely hell to pay from Joan.

  22. Livvy… Take an English class then come back and write something

  23. Making fun of stupid celebs is one thing. Those women are child victims whose stolen youth was spent being serially abused and raped by a monster in that basement.

    Retire this old rug already.

  24. It appears that “Livvy” was using Janet’s own words from this post.

  25. Joan Rivers jokes are Not always funny. It was a long and torturous time for the young women who were held captive for so long, and I can easily understand why they would Never find humor in the reference that Joan made regarding
such a terrible blemish in their lives. There is Not a person other than the young women who will ever know the aftermath of having to pick up the pieces of their lives and try to cope, Not only with the daily control and total loss of freedom that these women suffered, there are a lot of jokes that we all can refer to, but the horror of what these women went through, should Not be so available. Joan will always be Joan. Even though she is considered to be a comedienne,
every joke that she make is Not necessarily funny. PEACE!!

  26. she looks just like Nancy Reagan, with her Death’s Head grimace,

  27. joan crossed the line with this…..those women don’t need too be reminded of what happened to them…..
