Karl Lagerfeld put his foot in his mouth when he remarked that singer Adele “is a little too fat but she has a beautiful face and divine voice.” It caused a huge uproar on the internet with everyone EXCEPT Adele who insisted she didn’t care what people thought of her size because she was happy with it. Karl was RUDE (even though he was correct) and he quickly backpedaled. Does Adele really think we believe for a MINUTE that she doesn’t care about her weight? She’s a young woman in show business! Regardless of all this – there IS a happy ending. Karl further apologized by sending Adele an ENORMOUS gift- all the best handbags from his new Chanel collection – hard to get, and worth thousands of dollars each!

Denise, That’s what my wife said…..until she scrolled down a bit and saw some of the handbags. The drool forming in the corners of her mouth told me that she had gone to the other side. lol
Largerfeld had a weight problem (much larger than he is now) and he even acknowledged it in his apology to Adele if I remember correctly.

I do agree with his comment as far as Adele is overweight but “fat” is a harsh & nasty word. That being said, it really is none of his business!! If she is truly happy(which I personally don’t believe she is) then why should some old dink take it upon himself to publicly humiliate an up and comer! Jealousy, and trying to steal her thunder, that why.

Walt, the purse on the far left did leave me thinking I’d forgive him too. But he is obviously so used to seeing walking skeletons that he didn’t appreciate a real woman when he saw one.
Not only is Adele talented, but she is gorgeous and always impeccably dressed. Her stylist should be cloned so he/she is available to all woman who are not size 2.
Denise, So very true. In fact, most of us are used to seeing these pin-thin celebrities ourselves. When someone walks in with a normal weight, they stand out.
Adele will be gone from memory in the near future…a flash in the pan….Karl the grizzley fag will be around forever. He has the right to say what he thinks and more than compensated and garnered quite a bit of publicity.
We are all free to express our opinions. I’m glad he did apologize, though, and send a gift. I think that was very good of him. I think we are too conditioned to think our celebrities should look anorexic. We are also used to seeing celebrities air brushed to within an inch of their lives on the covers of magazines. Do we know a real woman when we see one? Maybe Adele doesn’t want to starve herself, or take drugs to stay thin, or spend her waking hours in the gym. Good for her and I hope she never sells out. If she shows up stick thin with a surgically-altered face and fake boobs, I’ll be disappointed.
Strom, I believe Adele will be around for long long time. That amazing voice will be with us for many years.
Susan Boyle, with an even more amazing voice is fading fast….Adele doesnt have the looks to pull it off in the big leagues….just an opinion.
