KATIE HOLMES FEELS LIKE SHE’S RELIVING “ROSEMARY’S BABY”

Back in 2006 we wrote about the similarities in Katie Holmes’ life and the movie “Rosemary’s Baby. At the time we weren’t taken particularly seriously, but US magazine just brought up the comparison again. For those who don’t remember the exact plot of Rosemary’s Baby, here’s a movie synopsis from Yahoo :

“A young married couple, trying unsuccessfully to conceive, finally have it happen when the husband strikes a deal with the devil worshippers next door. All of this is unbeknownst to the poor wife/mother who soon realizes she could be having Satan’s child.”

In the movie, Rosemary’s husband is lured into the cult to help his career – he was a struggling ACTOR. The newlywed couple lived in New York and was surrounded by helpful cult members while she was pregnant. When she became pregnant the cult was convinced it was the rebirth of their leader – satan. When Katie was pregnant, there was Scientology speculation that L Ron Hubbard‘s soul would return in her child because her husband is so high ranking in the cult.
It is gratifying to know we were on the right track with this even if it’s somewhat tongue in cheek. There ARE similarities, to be sure. We wonder if Katie has seen this very special movie.

  1. I am team Tom – all the way. What did Katie marry him for anyway? Every story has two sides, and we always seem to be getting her side. Poor sad, rich, pampered, totally taken care of Katie. Only most girls in the world could have been so lucky.
    Team Tom!

  2. As “Karma” points out. Not that I would be on Tom’s team. But one can’t pity the fragile little Katie too much. She can read can’t she?

  3. I assume idiot Katie had a computer where she could look up Scientology and see how off-the-wall and demonic it is. But no, she had to go for the fame and fortune and her crush (yeah, right) on TC since she was a teen. Truth is, TC floated Katie Holmes’ name to David Miscavage before he ever put the moves on her; she was secretly checked out and OK’d for him to couch-jump on Oprah for the world to see. Katie now knows that she made a big big mistake getting mixed up with this brain-washed idiot.

    These 2 things are sure:

    (1) Katie will have to have bodyguards for a long time, maybe forever, and special bodyguard for Suri, as Tommy has the money and know-how to snatch her away in an instant. Also, Katie’s life is in danger, when you bad-mouth SCI, they get very angry.
****(See Lisa McPherson: killed by the church of Scientology)****

    (2) Scientology will soon have another dumb bitch picked out for li’l Tommy to lure into the cult. And there will be plenty of them lining up to get a chance with him.

(Wonder what the other idiot celeb SCI’s are thinking about this mess, Kirstie Alley, Travolta, etc. That is if they even have a mind to think). 🙁

  4. For me, Scientology is as wacky as all other ‘religions’. I hesitate to slag it off because I think the Catholic Church is just as bad, only in other ways (sex abuse scandals anyone?) All religions are cults.

It will be interesting to see what comes of this. Tom Cruise is not looking good. At the same time she knew that he was heavily into Scientology when they married. Would you not have asked before you walked up the aisle?

One thing is for sure, it’s the worst kind of Hollywood crazy. You can only hope it ends well but I doubt it.

  5. This could end up in tragedy.

    (or)

This may have been meant to happen to get the fool Scientologists to thinking…..and hopefully bring SCI down 4-ever.

All the rag mags, gossip TV shows, will follow them both for a long long time. The paparazzi will be working overtime, stalking them night and day. Soon Katie will be as nuts as Tom, if she is not already.

  6. Guess Katie never heard of David Koresh, Jim Jones, Charles Manson etc, etc? She that uneducated or like some posters stated, wanted a short cut into Hollywood elite. Anyone with half a brain should know cults are dangerous & DO NOT have a shred of true religion to back them up. You make a deal with the devil, bet on it that horned beast will be back to collect.

  7. “Rosemary’s Baby” is also one of my favorite movies — definitely in the Top 20 for me. Did you know that Robert Wagner was offered the part of Mia’s husband, desperately wanted to do it, but couldn’t get out of his television series contract at the time? It’s something he regrets; I think he would have been brilliant. And catch a very young Charles Grodin as an unsuspecting ob/gyn. Filmed at the famous Dakota across from Central Park… audio cameo by Tony Curtis… and on and on… Love this movie! 🙂

  8. Katie probably felt totally controlled, not totally taken care of. Tom has failed at marriage THREE times now and the only common denominator in those marriages was him. That says a lot about him. He seems like a megalomaniac and seems to be “on” all of the time. Like he is always acting and can’t turn it off. It’s like his public “superstar” and private selves have morphed into one and the same and that isn’t a good thing as he seems to take himself very seriously. The fact that people think he is in a cult isn’t helping his public persona much either. I actually feel pity for Tom as he has been enmeshed in this cult since he was young and despite the toll it has taken on his private life, he’s still drinking the Koolaid. They treat him like he is a god. That must be heady stuff. I hope that Katie gets her life back, that Suri can flourish in a non-Scientology controlled atmosphere and that Tom gains some self awareness from all of this.

  9. why is this article titled “Katie feels like she is living…” only to have it end wondering “if she has seen this very special movie.”? More over this article has nothing to do with her feelings about anything.

  10. I don’t recall young Katie of making ANY statements yet. She has only spoken through her attorney which announced the impending divorce.

KATIE HOLMES HAS MADE NO STATEMENTS regarding the reasons behind the divorce to the best of my knowledge. We are all ASSUMING and SPECULATING about what the reasons behind it are.

  11. Thank you mannino for bringing that up! Things like that drive me nuts.

  12. @Walt, true but I believe she is letting things leak so she doesn’t have to say them herself.

  13. She wouldn’t be the first woman to think that she could change a man after she marries him.

Of course I’m just speculating as well. However, I do think that the best interests of her daughter, and the COS not being one of them, is the reason for the split.

  14. 1. I am getting REALLY tired of the media blaming a ‘religion’ on a news story! There are crazy people in ALL ‘religions’…let’s stop the religious wars! Just ignore religion all together. Cancel your church membership and just love one another xxoo

    2. Chuck Percy was of the same ‘religion’ as Crazypants Cruise and was Chuck not a beloved American politician?

I’m Canadian born so I could be wrong…

  15. @gogo. I agree. Time to wake up and assign all religions to the garbage can of history. All we need to do is be good to each other, share and enjoy every day.

  16. To the people saying “she knew that he was a Scientologist” wake up. It doesn’t mean she knew everything about the secretive sect. Also, he swept her off of her feet with grand gestures and attention. When I married my ex-husband, I knew he was Christian. It still didn’t prepare me for his decision 4 years into our marriage to want to join a patriarchal off shoot and demand that I agree to a biblical marriage where I would submit to him completely in every way, wear skirts and dresses only and basically cut off any family members and friends who weren’t on board. Nothing about him in the 2 years before we married indicated he was capable of such a behavior change. Scientology doesn’t let you in on all of the nitty gritty of their beliefs right away. She had no way of knowing how this would end up affecting her and her child. What may have seemed exciting and interesting in the beginning can become stifling and frightening later on. He has failed at marriage three times. While the problem may not be his religion, there certainly is a problem with him.

  17. ^^^^Of course she did not know everything about Scientology. But I still say she has eyes and a computer and all she had to do was type in the word ..Scientology…and there is enough information in there to scare off any sane common-sense person. Katie is not all that holy and pure; she has been engaged (can’t think of his name) and has dated many men. She has sown the wind, now she will reap the whirlwind.

  18. @Georgia,

You make an excellent point regarding Miss Katie not knowing and certainly not comprehended the magnitude of the money & power behind the COS cult.

What a horrible thing for you to have to endure with your past marriage. I hope and pray your life is much better now and you are far away from your ex.

I’ve never encountered any type of Christian religion like that. Your ex’s alleged religion was some kind of absurd cult.

My wife and I are Christians. I wouldn’t think of telling my wife what to wear or how to act. I would never want her to cut ties with family or friends. That would be crazy. She’d slap me silly if I tried to make or even suggest something that crazy. (and I would deserve it!) lol

  19. @Walt Cliff,

Thank you for your kind words. My life is great now. I met my husband because we grew up attending the same church so Christianity was a draw for me, not a deterrent. The thing with every human being is that we are all capable of change, good and bad. His sudden unwavering desire to live a Duggarlike lifestyle did not leave me any choice but to head for the door.

No matter how well you know someone, marriage is something that requires a leap of faith from both parties. Even if you go into it fully intending to keep your vows for the long haul, circumstances can deteriorate to a point where you have to cut and rum.

I get the feeling that Tom Cruise is a control freak who also refuses to compromise and it is that lack of compromise that makes a person impossible to live with.

  20. I wrote cut and rum when I meant cut and run but in my case, rum probably would have helped as well.

  21. her HORROR-LIFE has come to an end…..
    (be glad for her)

Well written, insightful and true. I am glad to read that things are good for you now.

I’ve seen a few men & women that marry and then they think they own and control the other person. Many years ago, we had a young neighbor that way & she treated her husband like a dog. Seriously, she would “command” him to do stuff. We thought it was a joke at first. Six months into this nightmare of a marriage, and he snuck out the window one night with the clothes on his back, filed for divorce the next morning and moved out state.

  23. That Christian stuff about man shall have dominion over women and animals and the earth is not so unusual. In fact it’s common in fundamental christian churches.

  24. She hit the nail on the head and drove thru the plank.. Let it all out.. once you don’t trust someone it’s over.. besides his sister and members of the church practically lived with them and monitored their every move, commented and gave advice to them for many years.. she suspected the place was bugged.. they had NO privacy or private family time.. what kind of hellish marriage is this? Sick!
