Martin Margiela just might be in a twist over Katy Perry’s Maison Margiela dress at the Met Gala, which was custom designed by John Galliano, who took his place. Katy’s gown was the antithesis of Margiela’s fashion theory of shocking simplicity with avant-garde shapes. Galliano’s red dress is gaudy and fussy and loaded with ruffles and straps – resulting in a pleasantly colored shapeless mass.
