LAUREN GRAHAM: NO RESPECT
Gilmore Girl Lauren Graham is not as sweet as she looks. A source on her show told us the actress is notoriously condescending to background players and she’s developed a bad reputation with them. Lauren isn’t popular with extras because not only does she avoid them like the plague (”Keep those people away from me!”) but she has no regard for their feelings. When she noticed a young female extra wistfully eyeing the craft service table she hissed “Get these maggots away from the food table!” (Hard to believe – but a reliable witness swears it’s true!) The girl was humiliated and when another extra expressed shock at Lauren’s contemptuous comment – both lost their jobs. Lauren may be the ‘boss” but extras whisper that she’ll never get a SAG award because she’s so disliked.

Extras are normally not allowed to eat off the same food tables as the cast and crew. Not because we hate them, but because budget-wise, it’s easier for the craft service people to give the background players a different table. That and if they don’t have a different table they’ll eat everything in sight because there are a couple of hundred of them.
Anonymous is right – what you’re seeing on TV is a role this person is playing. A lot of actors are NOT nice people, but if they’ve got good publicity folks you’ll never know it.

I first saw Lauren Graham when she played Richard’s girlfriend in “Caroline in the City”.
Then she had a part in a short-lived show called “Townies”. I think she played a waitress.
Her father raised her single handedly. He was a lawyer. must still be. He was very good looking in the late 1970’s when he was young.
too bad she’s such a snob, because she has not risen to such a level of fame.
Nor has she really been around that long. maybe over 10 years or so.

Budget-wise my ass. They’ve got plenty of money. Some of the crew and some cast think it’s below them to associate with extras. The irony is that it’s the biggest stars like Harrison Ford for instance that can be super kind to the extras. Others like that b…. Murphy Brown actress, Candice what’s her face. We were told don’t look at her eyes or you’ll be sent home. Where is she now. Gone forever I hope. Some shows were cool to work for others had the “cast and crew only” signs everywhere. And there’s not always hundreds of extras there at a time. Sometimes it’s only a few. They could be nicer if they wanted. I mean what would the cast do without extras walk around by themselves I suppose.

It’s definately true! I’ve worked the show, seen background workers drinking cold coffee and eating stale doughnuts while the cast and crew walk around with plates of exceptional food, right in front of hungry people. It’s disgusting and filthy greed and lack of human compassion. It is a shame. I wouldn’t treat my dog as poorly as these background workers get treated on sets like Lauren’s. Granted, some have more compassion, but it’s a system and background workers are second class citizens at best.

i can’t believe that its true. i love lauren and who ever said that a twelve year old wrote that Gilmore Girls is a great show has no idea what they are talking about. i am 17 and i love the show. They are both amazing actresses and the show has tons and tons and tons of fans. who else can have that many lines and say them that fast? Its like the scenes are real and not scripted. Teenagers can relate to the show and thats why its so popular. I agree completely with Trisha.

Makes sense. Enough talent to say lines really fast and make sarcasm sound like wit, not enough to realize she’s not succeeding due to her own efforts alone. I have no problem at all believing the allegations of being self-centered and rude to outsiders. It might explain why, despite GG’s long run, she’s not exactly been in demand elsewhere; a minor supporting role in Vin Diesel’s “Pacifier” is all I can remember offhand. I’ll be happy to see GG finally collapse from poor writing and disappear, carrying its sad cast into well-deserved oblivion.

I’ve known Lauren for years… and you’re all right. She’s charming, funny and good-natured – when it suits her – AND she’s also one of the most driven, self-serving, egocentric people I’ve ever known. Depends what she needs at the time. Pretty? In person, she’s striking initially, but then as you start to look at her, you realize that it’s not beauty at all, more of a kind of presence. Spend a lot of time with her, and she starts to look really ordinary. Talented? Not in my book. I’ve certainly known way more talented people who have achieved a lot less success. Eyes? A very real, surprising, non-contact lense color of blue-violet. Nose? Get some pre-Hollywood photos. It’s changed, ever so subtley, but definitely.
