Teen idol Leif Garrett (above, photographed in the 1970’s with then girlfriend Nicollette Sheridan) was on top of the world until 1979. He was eighteen when he wrecked his car while high on drugs and paralyzed his best friend from the waist down. Since then he’s wrestled with drug problems but seems to have stayed away from cars because his past few drug arrests have happened at Metrolink stations. This week he was locked up for having heroin in his shoe and despite his down and out appearance, he DID manage to scrounge up the $10.000 bail. A perfect candidate for Celebrity Rehab.

does celeb rehab really help these ‘i need to be on tv’ folks. it’s good tv, but a&e’s intervention is MUCH better and seems more sincere.

I agree with both previous comments. But haven’t I seen him appearing on Tru TV’s Dumbest criminal’s or whatever it’s called? Seems like maybe he should be starring on it as a guest instead of as a commentator! I have no pity for these fools who have it all and throw it all away because of drugs. What colossal fools!!

Yes Reta he is on Smoking Gun’s Dumbest show. I have never done drugs or know anyone who has (except pot) so I honestly don’t know what to look for when someone is high on the big stuff. I want to go back and watch the Smoking Gun shows to see if I look at him different now, what are the signs? What am I missing?
He was an unremarkable nobody at the height of his fame. Who cares?

What kind of a fascist nation is this turning into when one can’t even get on or off a subway without being searched for drugs? What an egregious affront to what little is left of our once much-vaunted “civil liberties”!
How do “tweaker scabs” happen? Is it from injecting there, or people get fidgety and pick things, or there are skin infections? What other ways does it alter the appearance? I have seen some “one year later” pics on a website somewhere that I *think* were from tweakers, and they seemed shockingly older, washed out skin and hair, hair was brittle, bad complexions like acne — did I remember right that was tweakers, or something else?

I think “Dr. Drew’s Celebrity Rehab” is for the celebs who CAN’T scrounge up the ten grand for bail. Some of the celebs on it seem so annoyed at the show — you know they’re only on it for the cash. Which is fine with me, don’t get me wrong — I think any reason a person gets even a brush with the idea of recovery is fine. Even if they’re on a “stupid” show or get paid to do it. I love the show. But I think the celebs on it are mostly tapped out money-wise. If Leif still has bail money, maybe he’s not a candidate … yet.
How about George Michael for the second season of Celebrity Sex Rehab?
Just saw him in “Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice” he had a small role as Natalie Wood’s son, he was about 6 yrs old at the time. He was cute. Too bad, although he never had much talent as a singer or actor.
