The fact that Leighton Meester’s mother was in federal prison in Fort Worth, Texas, for drug smuggling when Leighton was born, just proves what a good actress she is. Background notwithstanding, Leighton is perfectly believable as the spoiled wealthy New Yorker Blair Waldorf on “Gossip Girls.” And she looks particularly fetching in this checkered coat with lace tights.

For reasons I have yet to figure out, Meester is frequently publicised with headlines describing “her fashion” but which are actually stills taken while shooting Gossip Girl. And since the guy on the left is Penn Badgley, who plays Dan Humphrey on the show, I am betting that that is the case here, too.
