Olivier Martinez, 50, spends as much time as possible with his little boy Maceo since he and Halle Berry filed for divorce last fall. At one time Olivier and Halle planned to move to France and raise their children but a Judge said she couldn’t take her daughter Nahla (with Gabriel Aubrey) out of the country. Now Olivier is forced to spend most of his time in LA in order to see his son Maceo. Olivier claims he doesn’t like living in LA and gets more acting jobs in France. He appeared in the TV miniseries Texas Rising last year but isn’t as busy as he’d like to be. Maceo does have his daddy’s slanted eyes….

What the hell is wrong with saying someone has slanted eyes? How is that a slur? It’s just a fact! It seems no one can say anything about anyone at anytime anymore anywhere in the so-called “land of the free” without being slammed for being racist!
I concur with the others – describing someone’s eyes as “slanted” is similar to saying a black person’s hair is “nappy” instead of describing it as “curly” or “coily. Not racist necessarily, but it’s a word that was commonly used not too long ago to remind Asians in America that they were “different” white Americans and therefore, not “normal”. I am, however, not trying to flog you Janet – just giving you a friendly, helpful tip so you can avoid any awkward moments in the future.
Perhaps a better idea would be to actually describe his eyes as “Asian”. And by the way, both of Halle’s kids have Asian eyes, not just Maceo. I still don’t like Halle at all, but her kids are cute.
