MTV’s glamorization of defiantly ignorant pregnant teens on “16 and Pregnant” has been grating on our nerves ever since we heard teens were TRYING to get pregnant in hopes of becoming reality TV stars. Finally they’re trying to level the playing field by presenting a teen abortion. The episode features a pregnant teen who already has a year old baby, and her decision to abort. MTV is very nervous about offending pro-lifers (although they’ve been repulsing everybody else all along) so they scheduled the show called “No Easy Decision” to air at 11:30 at night. We’d rather see this series glorifying ingnorant fame whores aborted – off the air.

Hear hear Janet I’m with you. These shows make having a child sound exciting and glamorous when it’s the hardest thing that most of us will ever do, and MTV seems to have lost its vision a long time ago. And while we’re on the subject, maybe some of these gossip sites (E! Online and TMZ) will stop covering that idiot Amber girl a/k/a the Teen Mom “star” who was arrested for beating on her “baby daddy” (one of my most hated expressions). For any 16 year old girl, even bad undeserved press is good press.
You’re absolutely right, Denise. But I’d take it a step further… Let’s just abort MTV outright and start from scratch. MTV began as a 24/7 MUSIC television channel. At this point, I’d settle for even 12 hours a day!
Today, every channel on every station has some form of reality-based programming. These low-budget, easy to produce “shows” garner huge ratings and I don’t see an end to it.
It’s harmless enough, for the most part… but where I draw the line is when a channel like MTV (the top-rated network in the age 12-24 demographic) makes ‘stars’ out of the Amber Portwoods of the world.
I believe the producers of “16 & Preg” and “Teen Mom” were initially good-intentioned, but it mushroomed into an industry in it’s own right.
As if there aren’t already enough apathetic teens without these absurd shows giving indifferent, aimless kids the idea that MTV will be calling anytime now and fame is just around the bend.
Terrible….show them at 40 & still pregnant..

MTV is an abomination. It’s the reason why this generation is so rude, crude and lacking in values. Thanks to them teens think it’s ok to drop the F bomb 40 times in a conversation, smoke dope, sleep with anyone you want and lie/steal/whore your way to wealth and fame. Disgusting….

If any of you people actually watched the show, you would see, and hear from the teens themselves, how awful it is to be teen mom. Most of the daddies walk away, there are parental conflicts and friend conflicts. It shows how the girls miss out on senior year, have tons of responsibility way way before they are ready, how school suffers, they are broke, tired trying to juggle motherhood and getting education on their own. Nothing shown is remotely glamorous, and in fact, it probably acts as birth control! Any girl trying to get pregnant to be on show- which

I HAVE watched the show because I’d never make such statements without full-knowledge of the entire rotten package MTV has cobbled together in an attempt to have the public believe it’s “reality”. Not only have I watched these shows, I’ve followed the after BIRTH (so to speak) in the press, and what has been revealed is NOT a pretty picture.
As I stated, I believe this show began with all the good intentions in the world in illustrating to teens a true picture of what they’re in for should they fall pregnant before they’re old enough to carry the weight. Somewhere however, it all fell apart.
First of all, these girls are not struggling on welfare nor are they dependent upon their families— regardless of how they might be portrayed. They are PAID TO APPEAR ON THE SHOW. And handsomely. It’s been reported that they’re paid upwards of 65K per season at this point. And these salaries will INCREASE exponentially with their increased popularity and “stardom”.
Initially, they probably appeared for chicken-feed (and exposure) but the more popular the show, the more they’ll make. And it’s INSANELY popular. These girls (and some of the boyfriends) are now bonafide “reality stars”. Another day, another reality premise.
Although during filming the producers attempt to play it down, these girls now own their own homes, drive expensive cars, appear on a variety of talk/variety shows (for which they also are paid a hefty fee) and make regular appearances at nightclubs– again, for appearance fees. Don’t kid yourself… they are living the HIGH LIFE.
Clearly, this is NOT representative of your average “Teen Mom” & “16 & Pregnant” in this country. Bottom line, it’s a TV show… and TV shows, “reality” or not… are in no way, reality.
Mothers who are young and having Babies it has to be hard on the parents of this little mothers to be..Because that means your daughter is not going to leave off to college at 18 years old and that means the parents have to help there daughter raise there child until she is ready to handle it on her own..Plus work and go to school and daycare and rather the relationship is going to work with the father or rather it is going to go to Hell in a hand Basket and He decides to leave…Because the pressure is way too much for him and Remember ladies!!!He can always pay the child support and Stop being your man and back off and just pay child support and leave you to raise the child on your own?A Child is a blessing and a gift from God and it is really up to the mother of the child..What she wants to do and it is up to the family..How they are going to handle it all.
Lucky ladies who are blessed to be mothers and have some one to love..But once you have that child your life will never be the same and for the next 18 years..There is no freedom and all your money is to go for that child..But adlease down the road you can watch that child grow up and get married and make you a grandmother in the future.
Hope that your goals would be reached on so many levels…When you have children your life stops to some degree but as long as you have some one around to help you then life is good….Take care young mothers of america.
Young mothers and Even younger grandparents is a major trip and having family and some one to love is something this young ladies want…It takes time to grow up and become a mother.
What really makes me mad at this show..WHERET THE HELL IS CPS…WHY WON’T THEY PAY ATTENTION TO THIS PEOPLE And for that alone that really sucks and blows but this woman made that money to take care of there children future needs and that is the only good thing that has come out of it but the show helped some woman out there to think about there future and what it would be like if they got themselves in that kind of shit and stress…This show will slow up the Dumbness of young ladies out there in the world..Slow down on being stupid and learn how to use birth control.
