IT’S 1969, AND NIGEL LYTHGOE THINKS HE CAN DANCE

Leave it to the irrepressible James St James at The WOW Report to dig up this 1969 video of Nigel Lythgoe frantically frugging and ponying to the beat with his dance group the Young Generation. It’s particularly ironic because despite his flamboyance in this video, Nigel was not long ago accused of making homophobic comments about contestants on his show “So You Think You Can Dance.”  Later he apologized for his unseemly remarks.

  1. Boy, he sure was a nerdy little thing, wasn’t he? Amazing to think he actually went on to BE something looking like THAT!! I really like what he has to say on SYTYCD, he makes really good comments and gives the kids good feedback that helps them. But man, he was a geek!!

  2. Serves to remind some of us, and inform the younger set, that Austin Powers was not all that over the top. Yeah, that was a big part of the sixties, and early seventies!

  3. I LOVE NIGEL!! Ponying like it’s nobody’s business!! I love SYTYCD!! GO NIGEL!!

  4. Do you have a spam issue on this website; I also am a blogger,
and I was wanting to know your situation; we have developed some nice practices and we are looking to trade strategies with
other folks, be sure to shoot me an email if interested.

  5. Lythgoe will soon experience the idiosyncrasies

    of the American Prison system.

I hope he remembers to bring a pair of flip flops to where in communal shower .
