NO COMPARISON

A Pirates of the Caribbean setsider reveals that costars Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom are complete opposites: “Johnny – the SUPERSTAR- arrived at work every day without fanfare and personally greeted everyone. Very approachable. With Orlando it was always a major scene – like Eddie Murphy arriving on the set. An entourage of twenty surrounded the actor and big bodyguards protected him (from WHOM?) Orlando’s assistant was always hovering with TWO cellphones – one for Orlando’s girlfriend (Kate Bosworth) and the other for business calls. ” Johnny was down to earth and hung out with the cast and crew between shots. Orlando was aloof and whisked away to his dressing room. Everybody loved Johnny, but Orlando was in his own world. ”
Imagine what Orlando will be like if he ever gets to be as big a star as Johnny!

  1. First of all —
I love your work and think you’re great! I keep checking back here to see what you’ve added.
About Johnny Depp and Orlando – it’s surprising. It’s terrific that Depp is so nice in addition to being talented and gorgeous!! But what’s up with Orlando? He seems so sweet when you see him being interviewed on TV.

  2. Not surprised to hear about Johnny. He is what Orlando pretends to be.

  3. Its so funny.. because it LOOKS like the opposite. that johnny would be stand-offish.. and orlando would be sweet and introductive… and yet that seems like its not the case.

  4. Regarding Orlando, good looks, bad manners. He needs a reality check. Before Pirate’s, I never really cared for JD. Now I like him more and more each time I see him on TV or a movie. He is mature and O is still acting like a petulant boy-man.

  5. personally, I don’t collect autographs… but Johnny D is supposedly really nice to everyone. Seems like a cool guy.

  6. WOW, biggest opening day in Hollywood history: Pirates of the Carribean at $55,500,000 …
Can we expect another sequel !?!

  7. I don’t believe one word of it, except the part about Johnny Depp. The crap about Orlando Bloom is just made-up nonsense.

  8. Johnny be good, Orlando a blooming devo

  9. Johnny is too cool. And he has long had the rep of not being into the Hollywood scene.
Think of all the money he’s saving by not having an entourage on his payroll.
Smart, cool and sexy. Oh and rich. What a combo.

  10. “They should dump Orlando and have Constantine Maroulis star in Pirates 3.”
OMG you have got to be effin kidding. Puh-leeze. As if. Especially when Orlando’s been part of the formula that made box office history this past weekend.
Besides, only about 5 people in the world know who Constantine is. *rolls eyes*

  11. Johnny Depp’s anti-American. I know people who won’t see his flicks.

  12. In every interview and article I read–Orlando is overwhelmed, almost “humbled” by his success. He greets fans with respect, takes pictures with them, signs autographs etc, etc. Johnny seems to be the one who likes to hide, is standoffish, and generally uncomfortable with the whole hype about being a star. Plus he has made rude comments in the past about America. I think (if a fraction of this is even true) that maybe Orlando was caught on a off day, or perhaps he had business to contend with. Regardless if the author was in the same area or watched this every day–they do not know Orlando personally, and therefore–have no right to judge. At least he lets people look at him–thats more than what I can say for Madonna.
I know a security guard that worked at the “Palace”(concert hall by Detroit) and he said all staff had to “advert their eyes” when Madonna was around. no one could look at her, or they would be fired. That right there–is a diva. Perhaps you should think about that before you start mud slinging–

  13. I have met Orlando before and he seemed like the most nicest and gracious person. I worked on the set of one of his movies and he was always gracious to his fans, quiet, and, suprisingly, a bit introverted and shy. Some people may misinterpret that as being standoffish.

  14. Christ, get a life if you believe this tripe. Apparently this Janet person, whoever the hell she is, has an overly active imagination. I’m sure both Johnny AND Orlando are lovely people…and I’ve never heard anything to the contrary…other than this piece of trash passing for an “article”

  15. John Smith (cause I'm gonna be in 3 and I'm not supposed to be talking about this stuff) says:

Don’t know who that ‘setsider’ is, but I was an extra and Orlando was just as relaxed and casual as Johnny. In fact, Johnny is a bit shyer.
Orlando never arrived with fanfare. The only people with him, EVER, were his assitant, friends or family who were visiting him, and his dog!
His assistant did have two cell phones – it was no big deal.
Orlando was only ‘whisked away to his dressing room’, or rather he left between shots to go to his dressing room, when he had been up all night because he’d been in Kentucky or Venice or had flown to Chicago for the Oprah show when he was promoting Elizabethtown. So between shots he tried to get some sleep and catch up on his lines.
Sorry, ‘setsider’, but he’s not superhuman, he has to sleep some time.
I was just an extra but in fact all three of the big stars, Keira included, were very open and down-to-earth and responded when I greeted them or talked to each other, me and other extras between shots.
Keira was the most outgoing and always talked to everyone.
There was certainly a period when Orlando was very tired from promoting and from what I could see a bit depressed about the reviews for Elizabethtown (and also Kingdom of Heaven) but then he was just very quiet. Never aloof.
There were lots of regular people who were there as extras, any one of them would tell you the same thing.
    This is just crap.

  16. If this is true(which I don’t believe) this is the first time anyone has ever said anything like that about Orlando, usually people say how sweet and approachable he is. One other thing Johnny Depp himself said on one of the talk shows said how happy he was to find that Orlando is such a great guy.

  17. I’ve met Orlando twice.
He is humble and down to earth completely- the second time I met him he even remembered me-BY NAME- a year after our first meeting. He is not aloof at all- he is VERY grounded- you have my word, he chatted to me the first time we met like he’d known me forever when I was a complete stranger to him. He didn’t have an ounce of celebrity in his being. I know he treats his fans with every bit of respect, he even spends hours out with them at premieres making personal conversation with each and every one of them and signign every autograph possible. He is the perfect gentleman- and I’m not saying this as a ‘fan’- I am saying this as an individual whose met a number of celebrities in my time.
I’ve never met a GUY let alone a celebrity as humble as Orlando Bloom- So your SETSIDER may very well be the one that claimed everyone on the set was arguing- when that is clearly not the case- the three major cast members adore each other.
In saying this- Johnny is incredible humble also- But where this trash of gossip came from, I don’t know. It’s complete garbage though and it’s a nasty thing to spread-
A seal on the deal would be that I know a number of people that Orlando went out of his way for, including a friend of mine who he wrote a handwritten letter to after Kingdom of Heaven to thank her for a kind later she gave to him in person- and it was no note- it was a LETTER.
I can’t believe the trashy ‘news’ that gets recycled sometimes- but People- don’t believe this- its a nasty lie.

  18. You were at a premier, of course he’s going to be nice to you, he knows his fans can make or break him. It’s no secret how he is at premiers. But how he is OUTSIDE of those is where you will see the real Orlando and unless you’ve actually made a movie with him, or are his PERSONAL friend, I doubt you can talk truthfully about the man himself. He is an actor after all and he knows how to ACT with fans. It wouldn’t be a good thing for him to snub them, especially after the debacles of his last two films.

  19. I don’t believe this about Orlando. No other co-stars, directors or crew have ever had anything bad to say about him. The only negative comments I have ever heard about him come from some unnamed source, not very reliable. Journalists have made a point to say in interviews that he does NOT arrive with an entourage, so why would he do so on set? The Rolling Stone interview at one point described Orlando, the journalist, Orlando’s friend Chris who worked in the Art Department, Orlando’s trainer and Orlando’s assistant all on a boat heading for shore. That’s Orlando and THREE other people and the journalist. That’s not what I’d call an entourage. There have been paparazzi pictures of him out on the town and he never has more than one or two friends with him, again, why would he drag some crowd around with him onset? There is no one to impress there, just people to irritate. There would be no point to it, why waste the effort?
Orlando isn’t the type of person to want to draw undue attention to himself. He just wants to do his job.
It’s just a shame that the job he chose comes with parasites like Janet Charlton inventing stories to make celebrities look bad.
Why don’t they stick with the celebrities who don’t need any invented stories? The ones who yell at policemen, throw phones at hotel clerks or make scenes in restaurants?

  20. Scew you people who say you were an extra or where on the set with orlando. If you really were an extra or you were on the set, you wouldn’t be waisting your time on this site, with the terrible information it gives out. This reporter person is terrible at gathering the RIGHT information. If you are going to roght about big celebs like Johnny and Orlando, make sure your writing stuff that’s TRUE!!!

  21. From the things I’ve read in other articles and news regarding Orlando, I do believe is is somewhat full of himself and nowhere near the actor or the man that Johnny is. He does tend to run off rather than stay around to mingle with the fans. Even if he IS tired, do you think Johnny is made of granite? To be a true star that is deserving–sacrifices sometimes have to be made. And, by the way, he’d better WISH he could look as good as, or be as talented as, John Christopher Depp!!!
