OLD FASHIONED GIRL

For some reason we can’t get this picture out of our minds. Madonna DOES look great doing her best Diane Keaton impersonation, and the whole scenario resembles a pretentious Ralph Lauren ad. But those piles of ANCIENT books and documents are vaguely disturbing. What is she trying to tell us?

  1. uh, Madonna? With books? Financial records, maybe. Or her concert ledgers.
Outside of her Kabballa book-of-the-month club selections, I don’t think there’s any evidence this woman reads. (And the fine print in her concert riders doesn’t count!)

  2. No matter how refined the clothing or the backdrop – her legs seem always to be spread.

  3. She looks awesome. She always has and will be my homegirl!!!

  4. Madonna is awesome! But this story is ridiculous… I mean, where or what is your point? This was a photo taken from an article printed last year in Vogue or something… I think it is just a photo, not some cryptic message…

  5. Is this “news”? Madonna on a photo, how UNUSUAL…
Besides, this one was published in Harpers & Queen?s november 2005 issue.
    So old “news” then.

  6. she’s doing the ‘well read jewess’ thing again innit?
by the time that woman hits 60, she’ll have tried all the religions out and hopefully she’ll have found herself by then too!

  7. Isn’t it time she retired? She’s so afraid of being forgotten.

  8. I’m going to disagree. Today’s a very slow news day, so why not make fun of pictures of Madonna? Madonna posing with books is like Lindsay Lohan posing with a guitar — inherently funny.

  9. Ah the famous crop-avoiding photo: full shot has many old, “serious” heavy books or ledgers, significantly all BOUND, as props to balance out the portenious madonna in a full-sized photo, holding a book still yet to be permanently bound with same leather…
If someone dares to crop and have just the portrait of madonna to below her chest, they cant escape her image holding same hollywood book-prop.
If they imagine portrait of shoulders and face, they get the drawer behind her, which of course, has some “secret” and I am sure if you zoom in you will find on a good photo, something about her kabblahblah.
    “meaning”…as done by hams.

  10. Frankly, if I didn’t know the tramp’s background I’d like this shot. In reality, she’s a poser.

  11. That is one of the scariest-looking pictures I have seen in a long time.
