ONCE UPON A TIME, SEXISM WAS THE NORM – EVEN FOR WALT DISNEY

Bapv9OSdisney

We love Walt Disney, but it’s sad to read this letter written by his production company to a woman seeking a job in 1938. Sexism was an every day thing and women didn’t stand a chance of having the opportunities men had. It was taken for granted that females were to be treated differently, and if it weren’t for people like Gloria Steinem, THINGS WOULD STILL BE THE SAME. Women continue to be paid LESS than men, gay or straight, for the same job, and we have yet to elect a female president, so the struggle is FAR from over.

What complete rubbish. Many Women today make more than there spouses. In 1938, few Women worked outside of the home.

Arlene DICKson: WHAT PLANET ARE YOU LIVING ON?
Women in the US make appx 73 cents for every dollar a man makes, there is a glass ceiling, in Hollywood 95 percent of the Academy is comprised of WHITE MALES esp Directors, Producers, and Exec. positions. This is obvious from the sexistcontent and misogyny in movies and television. Check out the Bechdel test, Geena Davis’s Foundation, mediaed.org or the great doc MISS REPRESENTATION to get a clue!

Walt Disney was talented & visionary, but, racist and sexist. He also was a Union Breaker and collaborated extensively with Hoover & FBI. The Disney Corp has changed little. They employ plenty of women now. Especially in Asian sweatshops to produce overpriced junk. What progress!

Gloria Steinem destroyed feminism. Janet, inform urself about what feminism means and what marxism feminism means. 2 very different concepts. The latter is destroying our society. Never too late to learn

I lost all faith in Gloria Steinem and that NOW bunch when they constantly attack conservative women. The idea is to promote ALL women not just LIBERAL women. I want no part of their liberation.

  8. […] If you were a woman trying to apply for a job with Walt Disney back in 1938, this is the kind of letter you’d get. […]

  • Blind Item: America’s Sweetheart Battling A Drug Addiction?
    |

    BLIND_ITEM_NEW_#CUT

One of America’s Sweethearts is battling a serious drug addiction- not hers, but her best friend’s. Through the years these two have been stuck to one another like white on rice and her fame rubbed off on her pal. They’ve been roomies, have worked together on set, and even launched a business venture together. But all that success has come with a price. After years of being sober, the less famous friend has fallen HARD off the wagon and our gal doesn’t know what to do. She’s hosted an intervention, hired an addiction specialist, and even threatened to end the friendship, but nothing seems to work. What’s a girl to do?
