Like most sane people, we were appalled to learn about P Diddy giving his son Justin Dior (yes, that’s his name) a $360,000 chauffeur driven Maybach for his 16th birthday. Imagine a nightclub birthday party for 1000 people! Does this kid have a chance of not being spoiled rotten? Wouldn’t it be better to buy him a first class education? After that outrageously expensive event we learned something even MORE appalling from Page Six. Diddy rented two THRONES and a $5000 golden CROWN for Justin, which was misplaced at the party. Diddy was afraid he’d have to pay for the missing crown, but it was eventually located in a stylist’s car with Justin’s clothes. A CROWN ? Somehow, EVERYTHING about this spending spree seems tasteless and wrong.

New money can do this, especially when the new monied are unable to see beneath the surface of things. A good education on the part of the father (not business school or some other training, but the kind that teaches a person about human history, literature, science, and other bodies of knowledge on which to base values) might have meant this kid had a future. This, I doubt.

I think Diddy has the right to do whatever he wants with his money. He’s worked very hard and earned it. Your kids only turn 16 once. Why not make it memorable, if you can? Believe me, all of his children are used to getting the best of everything. He’ll have plenty of money for their educations, too. And Diddy has always donated to charity. He owes none of you an explanation!
True that the Did can do with his money as he pleases. But he should not be held up as a role model for the average youngster. He made his money selling unnecessary things and foolish looks to basically poor black kids who have little prospect for the future. Many other better role models including the President.
To give a kid a car like that pretty much ensures he will crash it into a wall at some point, he must not want the kid to see his 17th birthday
