Movie reviewers all over America are searching for the right words to use when describing Will Smith’s new movie “Seven Pounds.” People hate to say bad things about the biggest star in the world. Some reviewers skirted the issue but Lou Lumenick at the New York Post pulled no punches. He describes the movie as a “preposterous, romantic, melodrama with an absurd plot.” The Post says “Will’s self-grandiosity has grown with each recent movie and he has finally surpassed his pal Tom Cruise in the ego department.” Personally, we spent the first half of the movie confused and bored, and the second half outraged by the ridiculous plot. It feels like it’s four hours long.

  1. I never liked big-ears or any tv or movie he has ever done. Self-important bore – how the effing hell did he get to be a big star? And, his midget wife has a man’s face. So there !

  2. He’s the “biggest star in the world”?! Yuck. The world’s in trouble.

  3. I love Jada and I thought he was VERY good in The Pursuit of Happyness… He is a fine actor. Why all the haters? Oprah’s audience was all impressed w the 7 pounds movie… I was going to see it tomorrow – now I am not sure. Anyone else see it yet?

  4. Janet when you say ‘we spent the first half of the movie confused and bored’ are you saying you brought a date to this horrendous film?
    Do tell girl!

  5. will smith is one of the best actors in hollywood i love all his movies, he’s so gorgeous and so hot.

  6. Will gives lots of money to Second Harvest Heartland,a hunger-relief organization.
So much for the big ego..
Sounds like the reporter is jealous.
    No suprise…

  7. Will Smith also gave $122,000 to Scientology last year. So much for his claim of not being a Scieno. He’s setting himself up to be the next Tom Cruise-once successful, but now little more than a crazy-eyed, closeted freak who can’t pass for a normal person.

  8. I’ve always believed the egotistical and low IQ
Will has joined Scientology. If he is so proud to be a member and so proud to be a ‘friend’ of Cruise-meister, why doesn’t he let it be known?

  9. Ben Thomas (Will Smith) is a man deeply depressed after an accident where, by using his cell phone while driving and his car wandering across lanes, he was responsible for the deaths of 7 others, including his beloved wife. He decides to kill himself to help seven struggling individuals to try and make up for his terrible mistake. His brother (Michael Ealy), who works for the IRS, is deeply concerned about his state of mind. Ben steals his brother’s IRS ID to access the IRS database and to find and meet people who he believes worthy of his gifts which includes body organs and material possessions. Holly Apelgren (Judyann Elder), Ezra Turner (Woody Harrelson), Connie Tepos (Elpidia Carrillo) and Emily Posa (Rosario Dawson) are among those who he identifies to help. He has a plan for when he identifies his 7 benefactors that requires his best friend Dan (Barry Pepper) sees that his wishes are carried out.

  10. Yanno this guy is trying too hard to get an Oscar for a Drama role that will never happen. He is not that good of an actor to win one.
Smith needs to give up the “drama” stuff and do the summer block busters that he does well in!

  11. The plot sounds really fascinating. I’m definitely going to see it tomorrow, in Toronto.

  12. I saw this film begrudingly; as I am a voter for the Guild and want to see everything, keep an open mind…..this was very painful to watch. Many people walked out during the first 20 mins; more people were very restless in their seats. I agree with the reviewer on this; Smith seems to have not only surpassed Cruise in the ego department; they have attended the same acting school. Would only encourage one to see this film as a mode of torture.

  13. p.s. Cruise’s son, Connor has a small bit in it….plays Smith’s character as a young boy…..

  14. I think Scientology has made a big difference in his life..they all live such a secretive life…no one hears about Jenifer Lopez after she hooked up with Leah Rimmini and Mark Anthony ran off..there is something so strange with that whole group of people all big egos…poor Katie Holmes she holds on to her daughter in every picture
