PETA finally got something right. They demonstrated in front of the Fortnum & Mason store in London to protest the store selling foie gras, which involves cruelty to animals. Other UK stores have stopped selling the liver pate and it’s banned in many countries. Geese and ducks are cruelly force fed large amounts of grain and fat to cause their livers to swell up. Bringing this atrocity to the attention of the public certainly benefits animals more than those naked celebrity billboards that PETA is so fond of.

I agree that this is a cruel practice and I don’t buy or eat pate; however, this doesn’t make up for all the bad that Peta does, in my opinion. I loathe Peta, they have really screwed up a lot of people, they hand out Nazi-like lying propaganda pamphlets to young kids, support a lot of criminal behavior like setting college labs on fire and paid for atty fees for some freak that poisoned a bunch of people. Also, I think they are mainly in it for famewhore purposes. They L O V E the attention they get and are known to live high on the hog on their donations. They are also very hypocritical. You know those stupid nude ads of various celebs they have all over the place? You will see pix of these same celebs wearing or carrying leather, and eating meat, and I think even wearing fur. Also, their leaders “goals” are ridiculous. She believes in no human control of animals whatsoever. So, wtf? We just let all animals run wild wherever they want, do whatever they want, kill each other, kill people, destroy habitats? Ridiculous.

Oh, they have also been busted for dumping the bodies of cats and dogs that THEY euthanized in other businesses private dumpsters. They take in rescue animals promising to find them homes, and then euthanize them when they can’t be placed the same as regular animal shelters. Like I said, fake, hypocrites.

Georgie do some research and learn what you are talking about. Generalizing and simplifying issues to a 5th grade level may work for you, but, you clearly don’t know what you are talking about. As sexist as I find many of PETA’s ads they still do more good than harm. Animal abuse (including the meat and dairy industry) is a TRILLION dollar plus system and there aren’t enough people fighting to expose and end the horrible conditions 59 BILLION animals endure daily before they are killed EACH YEAR.

Meg, I have done extensive research on PETA. All of the incidents I mentioned in my comment are verifiable if you do the research. Peta caused my own family extreme distress, and I can’t think of anyone I know who has spent as much time as I have looking into their shady business.

There are much better, reputable organizations that teach about the corporate food industry and their disgusting practices, and they do so honestly without the lying, scamming, and famewhoring. I make an effort (an expensive one) to buy cruelty free, natural products.

btw, regarding your nasty little jibe, referring to my comment as “5th Grade”…lame, very lame. But thanks for pointing out how their nudie ads are totally sexist–I had forgotten that one.

I always enjoy being preached to by the vegan/PETA crowd while noticing one of them wearing a leather belt, shoes,or purse. If they don’t have leather items, then I wonder how they can, in good conscience, wear/use faux leather goods without guilt about polluting the environment. And lastly all of them drive evil automobiles and pollute the air.
