PIRATES IN REDONDO BEACH

johnny_depp2.jpg
Redondo Beach was up for grabs last week when Pirates of the Caribbean lowered their anchor there to film scenes for Pirates III. Actually the location boat was out in the ocean but the beach town was loaded with equipment trucks, huge trailers, and looky-loos. Everybody wanted a glimpse of Johnny Depp. And they got one. Each night after filming wrapped, Johnny showed up in the parking lot of Captain Kidd’s fish restaurant where he posed for endless pictures with children and signed autographs. A restaurant employee was amazed “He was SO nice to everyone and spent hours with his fans.” No sign of Orlando Bloom.

  1. Johnny Depp is a class act. He is known for his generosity with fans. Love that.

  2. I love Johnny Depp. You only hear good things about him and his fans. Apparently he doesn’t realize what a huge star he is!! (Don’t anybody tell him…)

  3. When he was doing Jump St. in Vancouver he said all us Canadians are a bunch of f…ing hockey players!
    Well….YAH!!
    so sentimental, brings a tear.

  4. hey janet, if not for somebody bad mouthing you, i wouldn’t have come here and read your blog… but then as i enter, shit!!! it SUCKS!!! its boring…boring…boring blog…

  5. Great story! I hope Johnny Depp never changes. What a breath of fresh air.

  6. WTF: Why does he have a Che emblem? Does he really know who that monster was?

  7. That thing on his chin is just hideous. He needs to get over that junkie look he’s been doing the last ten years. I think he’s extremely overrated as an actor, too. Haven’t ever liked him in anything.

  8. It’s sweet of him to take the time to meet with fans. He is a class act. And his beard is like that Scottina because he is filming the movie!!

  9. The “junkie thing” on his chin is part of the look of his character, Captain Jack Sparrow. Duh.

  10. I never liked Johnny Depp until I saw him in “Finding Neverland.” He was awesome. You’ll love him if you watch that movie.

  11. “linzki, you should go back to perezhilton then”
The fool is perezhilton! Just trying to drum up traffic on his dumb site.

  12. Dear Janet,
I was going to write you this morning and tell you of my daughter & friends experience with Johnny Depp last week. He IS as nice as everyone says!! He spent HOURS signing autographs and talking with the kids, asking movie trivia questions, and taking photos with the kids that got the answer right first. He was AMAZING and all the kids will be bragging about this all year!! FYI: Orlando DID ditch all the fans and “blew” off in his car. Hmmmm. I love you Janet!!

  13. But he’s done filming that “Pirates” shit, so shouldn’t he shave off that stupid thing? “Finding Neverland” looked too precious and hetero for me, sorry, not interested in that romanticized breeder shit. Who cares about the author of “Peter Pan” anyway? Find some interesting roles. Y’all love him just because he’s got good hair!

  14. Isn’t it always the person who hasn’t watched a film to be the first to critize it? If you watched “Finding Neverland” you would discover that it was an interesting role for Johnny Depp and an interesting movie. Now go get back on the short bus and watch “Die Hard with a Vengence” for the umpteenth time.

  15. Watch “Die Hard with a Vengence”
I don’t watch that crap either. Quit prejudging people, p.r. victim! Justin Chambers should be the new Johnny Depp, who is overpraise and played-out. Now he’s hot and could be as big a star if given the right roles. Y’all are such media sheep followers and jump through whichever hoop a star’s p.r. person says to. Show a little individuality and imagination.

  16. “not interested in that romanticized breeder shit.”
    Are you on drugs?

  17. Occasionally. But I seriously wish they’d give one of Johnny’s parts to Justin Chambers.

  18. DOES N E ONE KNOW WHEN POTC 3 IS DONE SHOOTING AT REDONDO BEACH? I HAVE TO KNOW..IF YOU HAVE N E INFO AT ALL…PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE EMAIL ME [email protected]
    thanks

  19. I was kind of indifferent to him too until I saw Pirates and Finding Neverland. He is a sweetheart for posing for photos and signing autographs. Read the current issue and see what assholes Ben Affleck and Meg Ryan were to their young fans who DARED to ask for an autograph. They left the youngsters in tears. JD is a good guy in my book, I don’t care if he plays Bozo the Clown, I would still have high regard for him for being a decent human being.

  20. That is so cool he spent time signing for kids. He seems like he would be a good dad !! And Scottina they are now filming POTC 3 so he’s not done with the pirate shit !! He’s fantastic and so sexy !!!

  21. I’ll tell you what I think-
    I WANT ONE!
And I want one of those shirts he’s wearing, too.
