American Idol’s ratings are down 18% compared to last year, and less ad money means fewer frills. This is clearly illustrated by the backstage craft service table at CBS where the live show is produced. A show insider told Rambling Reporter columnist Merle Ginsberg at The Hollywood Reporter that in early March crewmembers were surprised when they started being charged 25 cents to nibble on the previously free carrots and potato chips at the craft table. By April, the price to graze had gone up to a dollar! Why the crew people are being “punished” for low ratings remains a mystery.

This show blew up two seasons ago. They should have- and still need to- hire fresh judges every season and add a suprise audience memberor two as guest judges. Maybe the only permanent position would be the show host, let every other placement rotate through one season, skip a season, return.
Downfall started when judge Paula Abdul wasn’t immediately fired and lied about having an affair with BLACK Corey Clark. Decline continued when a large salary was paid to kiss of death Jennifer Lopez who contributed nothing. Adding ghetto rappers like Mariah and Nicki M. did nothing but run off the remaining mainstream viewers.
The show has had its run, a few people have gotten very rich and there is no quality left…cancel it after this season and good riddens!
Well, most of us are not fed by our bosses, but if anyone should get their snacks for free on that show, it should be the contestants and the crew. How much money do they really expect to save this way? How many snacks will it take to pay for Mariah Carey’s salary? 18 million? Good luck!

The end is near — it’s too painful to watch. Why don’t the judges buy “healthy” food for the crew??? Like fruit, veggies, protein shakes, etc. Dr. Oz can be in charge of the food being served. Healthy crew members make happier “servants”.
How about cutting Mariah’s salary? She sucks and makes less sense than Paula Abdul. It’s ridiculous that the judges and execs make millions for sucking and they take it out on the crew who did nothing wrong.
