ROBERT DENIRO’S TRIBUTE TO HIS GAY FATHER

article-2544188-1AE#deniro

Robert De Niro has really come a long way – earlier in his career he was impossibly “private” and avoided calling attention to himself. He was known for barely speaking in interviews. In the last few years he’s become much more accessible and social. Now he’s produced a very personal documentary about his father, who was a respected artist. De Niro’s father left his mother when Bob was 3 – many years later he learned that his father left because he was gay. Father and son remained close until his father died in 1993. De Niro narrates the film which presents his father’s work as well as his struggle with the realization he was gay in an unforgiving era. The movie, “Remembering The Artist Robert De Niro Sr,” is scheduled to air on HBO this summer.

  1. Why is it an actor who chooses not to whore himself out to the media is considered difficult? Give me a DeNiro any day over the Kartrashians or any so-calle realtiy “stars”.

  2. I have noticed that men that grow up without a dad — have severe emotional problems. Glad Robert has come out of his shell.

  3. Wonderful story…..a more timely one….Mr. DeNiro acted w/the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman in a film titled ‘FLAWLESS’ circa 1999 if I remember correctly. A wonderful film set in NYC. Brilliant acting.

I’ll look forward to seeing his HBO project / tribute to Mr. DeNiro Sr. later this summer.
