ROBERT REDFORD’S SON JAMES HAS ISSUES ABOUT HAVING A FAMOUS DAD

Robert Redford’s son James doesn’t seem to have a grip on the advantages of being related to a major movie star. James directed a documentary on dyslexia that he‘s been promoting in various cities but he’s not very cooperative, according to our friend CJ at the Star Tribune in Minneapolis. The press isn’t infatuated with the doc’s subject matter, but they are willing to give him some publicity if he’s willing to talk about his famous father just a little. James stubbornly says NO upfront to ANY questions involving his father and journalists are rebuffed. He’d better loosen up if he wants publicity for his cause. He’s lucky to have a famous father who opens doors.

  1. I agree w/ you, Janet, but I also know that there’s a back story here, too, which might explain the son’s behavior. What was the relationship between father and son growing up?

  2. They look more like brothers.

He should milk the relationship for all it’s worth. I know I would.

  3. I don’t blame him. He is trying to make it on his own credit. Unlike many other famous kids who have no talent just a recognizable last name.

  4. The material sounds like something for PBS, which might show it once.

  5. Use the coattails of your father to make your mark…if you are good they will be asking Robert what it is like to be James father soon enough.

  6. Issues going back many years, son needing liver transplant years ago…too many things make son afraidvto appear needy, so he cuts off his nose to spite his own face. Sad. Dad has always been willing to help.

  7. He did need 2 liver transplants…

No one would even talk to him about his film, not matter how good it is, without his father opening doors for him. Wonder who funded the film.

Although maybe Robert doesn’t want him to discuss him in the press.
