ROBERT SMITH OF THE CURE: IMITATION IS THE SINCEREST FORM OF FLATTERY

Robert Smith of The Cure no longer looks much like Johnny Depp’s Edward Scissorhands character, but at 57, he’s still going strong. Scissorhand director Tim Burton is a lifetime fan of the band and asked them to do music for the movie, but at the time The Cure was too busy. So Tim gave Johnny’s character the Robert Smith teased-hair white-face look. Songwriter/musician Smith is the only remaining original band member and we had to laugh when we heard there’s a tribute ban performing in the UK called Fat Bob and the Cureheads.

  1. A genius of the depressing music genre made popular by The Smiths. Many 80’s teens locked themselves in their bedrooms listening to this and watching bootleg VHS tapes of Ferris bumbler’s day off”.
