ROCK STARS AT THE BEATLES’ “YELLOW SUBMARINE” PREMIER IN 1968

An astute reader and fan of Anita Pallenberg commented on our item about her and led us to a site devoted to the Rolling Stones muse. We were particularly fascinated by this old photo of the audience at the London premier of The Beatles’ 1968 movie “Yellow Submarine.” Anita and Keith are in the second row. How many celebrities of yesteryear can you spot in the crowd?

  1. Not too many other than the Beatles. But that was a really cool movie.

  2. Front row, Pattie Boyd & George, Ringo & his wife Maureen, John & Yoko, Paul & Jane Asher(?). The guy next to Pattie looks familiar, also the guy next to Pallenberg.

  3. be honest: IS THERE SOMEBODY WHO CAN REMEMBER THOSE SHAMS?

  4. They were smoking in the theatre! Gross!!! And I bet that – with poor ventilation, smoking, polyester and the bad hygiene habits of the time – everyone stank to high heaven. If someone gave me a time machine, I would go forward not back.

  5. Yeah, smoking in a crowded theater. Cool move. The gov’t was about 50 years too late in banning cigs from public places…movies, offices, restaurants, etc. Think of the cancer victims that would be alive today. The yesteryears were really crappy.

  6. Excuse me, SebastianCanada? Bad hygiene of the times???? I was there, and didn’t know anyone who didn’t bathe everyday… I lived the alternative lifestyle called “Hippie”, and lived in many cities, different parts of the country, in three communes, and on my own, and later with my “Hippie” husband who came with his own set of friends and family. Not one of us were unclean… Where do you get your erroneous information?

  7. They are smoking in the theater.. heh Nasty men who ruin themselves and the world.

  8. No Jane Asher there, the guy on the left is Neil Aspinall
