RONALD REAGAN: OUR ALLTIME FAVORITE PRESIDENT

We cannot allow the 100th birthday of the late great President Ronald Reagan pass without note. He’s pictured here with Nancy at their ranch in Santa Barbara. Ronald Reagan was an accomplished governor and a brilliant president. We never doubted that he was a man of good character and decency. A rare find in politics. He even loved his wife. We interviewed his rebellious daughter Patti once and she admitted she never appreciated her father until long after he was out of office.

  1. I never could understand how Americans could actually vote this nice actor into a state governorship and then as a president of the country.
    The Great Communicator. R.I.P.
I heard Nancy gave great blow jobs back in the day.

  2. He was a terrible president. He destroyed the lower classes and ran up huge debts while encouraging selfishness.

  3. His administration was riddled w/scandals. 138 officials in his administration were convicted, indicted, or were the subject of official investigations of official misconduct and/or criminal violations. That’s got to be a record, and not a record to be proud of, if you ask me. I don’t doubt that he was a nice person, but a brilliant president? No.

  4. Janet, since when are you an arbiter of American politics? The man wouldn’t even say the word ‘gay’ when thousands of gay men were dying of AIDS and blocked government funding of treatment and medical research. Did you really do your research when you came to this conclusion that he was our greatest president? Hmmm…this really sucks.

  5. Nelson, ure rite about Nancy. She was a damm slut and famous for her oral skills. Her sluttiness didnt disappear with old age, on the contrary. She slept with Sinatra long after she become the 1st Lady. Back in her youth, she hated the Jews but it didnt stop her from sucking Jewish guys who helped her with her career or for other benefits. And anyway, Id think 2wice before putting a president on a pedestal. OK, compared to Bush or others he was good, but like most of them he had a part in destroying the world and the US of A.

  6. you’ve got to be kidding…srsly.
i am shocked. his admin. was horrible and did perm. damage to this country. he wouldn’t even ACKNOWLEDGE the AIDS crisis…..SHAME SHAME SHAME
too bad we can’t blame it on the Alzheimers he HAD while still IN OFFICE……

  7. JC this pick will drive many of your pc viewers and enablers absolutely crazy! They hate this man, because he spoke to middle America.

RR was a good egg and much more liberal than most think. WHile Nancy could be a shrew, the above post about her sexual escapades is total bullshit.

Even as a RR fan, my vote is to leave politics off a Hollywood site, even though RR came from Hollywood.

  8. Ronnie’s the reason that the highest paid executiv4es in the US are the presidents of HMOs. He totally destroyed health care for everyone. Too bad the bullet missed. And, Nancy was a total shrew to Gorbachev’s wife when they came for a state visit.

  9. And lest we forget, Nancy was into the occult, consulting stars and mediums about what should be done about certain things that cropped up in the presidency. Then she passed the info on to Ronnie. It’s common knowledge that she had an affair with Sinatra, but who leaked the info that she was uh, shall we say, a C.S. Anyhoo, her many lovers must not have been tit men.

  10. Apparently brilliance has everything to do with his Hollywood roots.

Reaganomics, specifically his tax cuts and deficit spending, left a mountain of debt. Trickle down economics encountered a gravity problem with everything trickling up and staying there. Inequality increased. Then along came Reagan’s self-appointed protege George W Bush with his plan to fully actualize Reaganomics bringing the world’s economy to it’s knees.

This is all Economics 101 by the way.

And if he truly had character, he would have turned the reigns of government over to his vice president after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s instead of keeping it secret.

  11. There’s not much I can add to what was said above. The only thing left out was a reference to “Bonzo”, or as I like to call him, Ollie North.

  12. I was never a fan of Reagan or his wife.

I don’t know if it was true or not but I also have read on different occasions that a young Nancy had a specific talent (like Nelson mentioned above).

  13. Just because he had an actor’s talent for portraying a good ole boy warm and witty Grandpa facade, doesn’t mean he was a good president, or a caring one. He stated that Ketchup was a vegetable and was admissible as such in the school lunch program. He could not bring himself to throw a lifeline to The Gay population who were facing the AIDS crisis, he did not care about people living in poverty, with his silly and ridiculous Trickle down theory, and let our fighting men in Viet Nam stay in a hopeless situation, until he announced the night before the election that he “Was bringing our boys home”…Of course, Nancy was as cold as Hell, and less than gracious to so many on the staff.

  14. Well, a post of this type—with its incendiary headline–is the blogging equivalent of throwing raw meat to your readers…

    Work those pageviews, Jan! 😉

Having said that, what can one say of RR, except wishing him continued success in his retirement?

(And if you’re interested, check out how close George Bush was to the family of John Hinckley—Reagan’s would-be assassin; just one of those AMAZING COINKY-DINKS that the media conveniently overlooked. At the very least it reaffirms who the REAL ruling crime family is in this country. Look for JEB in 2012 and beyond, and don’t forget “the little brown one” (to quote his Grandpappy), George P is expected to continue the family tradition, too.*)

Oh, and SPEECHLESS @ the many references to Nancy’s secret skill.

*Assuming there’s a country left to “govern.”

  15. Ronald Reagan was another one of those classic Americans like Jimmy Stewart & John Wayne. He was a Good Man who loved his wife dearly!!

  16. ‘ol Nan back in the day.

I should be so talented with my tongue.

There’d be a line waiting for Ms Davis and her oral expertise.

  17. To be fair:

To his credit, his communication skills were superb, and he put them to excellent use in hastening the fall of the Berlin Wall. That accomplishment he can legitimately and rightfully lay claim to.

And re: the Alzheimer’s, I realize the only way to definitively diagnose the disease is to wait until after death and perform a brain autopsy, but his doctors must have had their suspicions, and there’s ample video proof of Nancy unsuccessfully trying to hide the fact that she whispered verbal cues in his ear when he lost track of what he was talking about.

  18. He never removed his suit coat in the Oval Office due to his respect for the presidency. Let’s compare that with Bill Clinton. I think what Janet is saying is just what she posted: That he was a man of good character and decency. It was difficult not to like him, regardless of how you felt about his politics. And say what you will about Nancy, she was his loyal supporter until the end.

  19. Jeez–isn’t he the guy who closed all the federally-funded mental institutions, contributing in a major way to homelessness?? Not my idea of a great prez.

  20. I TOTALLY agree with Natalie on this. The Reagans were a class act, all the way.

And let’s not forgot, that unlike that WHORE OF BABYLON Monica Lewinsky, Nancy knew how to give head without spilling a drop! No spattered dresses for her!

  21. @ Joanie, right you are, and those who aren’t homeless are sitting in jail cells or prison because they acted in ways that proper treatment and medication would have prevented.

  22. I had never heard of Nancy Reagan’s oral skills so I googled it. Wish I hadn’t. Among the many references to Nancy’s providing the best BJ in Hollywood, were tidbits like the fact that Hollywood wives whose husbands cheated on them would go visit “Uncle Miltie” and his 12″ penis. Who knew?

  23. Indy, all heads of state have or had an official astrologer, such as the British monarchy, who rely on such skills for wedding dates, and proper mates. Every president in the White House has had a medium or psychic to visit. Consulting an astrologer was the only good thing about Nancy.

  24. Instead of delving into human con-artists, astrology, fortune tellers, etc., she should have been on her knees in prayer, rather than in other dangerous activities.

As to Ron’s appeal. He’s an actor first and foremost and knew how to work the crowd with that impish grin.

I don’t think we have had any great presidents for decades. Who would want this job?

  25. I remember when Nancy Reagan was the spokesperson for the “Just Say Blow” campaign, but I never quite knew what that was all about, until today.

Thanks, Janet and JCH contributors! This is the kind of history lesson one doesn’t get in school :).

  26. And I know for a fact that Patti Davis peruses this site. She must be beaming! Could a sequel to her popular “novels” be in the works?

  27. RE: It was difficult not to like him, regardless of how you felt about his politics.

HE WAS THE FREAKING PRESIDENT for Christ’s sake!!!…

  28. Yep, my mistake, looks like that according to some sources Nancy was known to have given a Lewinski or too during her show biz career. Maybe fact, maybe fiction but she kept RR happy for many years.

  29. TO PATRICK; Since you are asking about Reta, where do you think SebastianCanada is? You may have said answered this in the past, but please refresh our mammaries, er memories.

  30. Indy. Sebastion was ordered to get a life. “Happy XMAS”.
He will probably come back. When his wounds are healed.
It took me years to recover after “Dear Leader” ripped me a new one.

  31. In Peter Lawfords autobiography he detailed how Nancy blew him all the way from the east coast to L.A. on a road trip in the forties or early fifties. What a good sport she was!
Nancy does have a very powerful jaw in her pics. And Ronnie always had such a large squinty eyed, smile.

  32. And the worst part about this mental picture that all of you have so helpfully provided?

Is that every time Nancy finished gobbling yet another of Ronnie’s loads, he would say, “Thank you, Mommy.”

  33. ^^^^^^^^^^^^”When his wounds are healed”.

    “Dear Leader”.

Very mysterious; to heck with it.

    Temper tantrum in progress.

  34. Indy, Reta is probably not feeling well at the moment; and, the exceptionally talented Canada most likely got a job with a contract that precluded him from writing for other organizations of any kind, even gossip sites. Please give us a sign Canada.

  35. Janet, ARE YOU KIDDING!!!! with all of your gay readers, this President did more damage to the lives of gay men and aids victims than anyone in high office.
    Also:
    1. Reagan was a serial tax raiser on the working class.

    2. Reagan nearly tripled the federal budget deficit.

    3. Unemployment soared after Reagan’s 1981 tax cuts.

    4. Reagan grew the size of the federal government tremendously.

    5. Reagan supported Free Trade that sent American factories overseas.
I am shocked at you. Thanks for the previous fun blog postings. Goodbye.

  36. Reta has got a s-t-a-c-k of paperwork to catch up on when she returns. Maybe she had tickets to the Superbowl.
