RUSSELL CROWE: FATHER NOSE BEST

Russell Crowe took his sons Charlie 41/2, and Tennyson, 2 , for a romp in the park and lunch at a cafe. From these pics it look like boy boys have little versions of daddy’s nose. Do you think Crowe was smart to turn down the role in “Australia” that went to Hugh Jackman?

he probably couldn’t get himself together in time. He’s let himself go and gotten fat. Hugh Jackman looks hot and in shape and was just voted sexiest man alive by People Magazine, so I don’t think Crow could’ve done THAT!!

I guess the poster who’s thinking Russell was too fat for Australia, isn’t aware that the film was cast almost two years ago and if Baz hadn’t sat on his ass for so long hemming and hawing about when he was actually gonna FILM the bloody thing, Russell would have been in it and would have shone brilliantly as always.
Australia has taken so long to get made and released that Russell’s wrapped 4 films, seen three of them released theatrically and then two of those released on DVD and taken a year off to get fit for Nottingham.
See, how it works is, just because the movie’s been released, doesn’t mean it was just finished being made. Got that, sparky?

I don’t think that he has what it takes anymore to do a film like Australia. His acting has gone flat, and yes, he’s way too fat for a role like that. But, his children are beautiful.

I wish he would make another ‘Master and Commander’ movie. He was amazing in that flick.

People who knock Russell for being “out of shape” have forgotten their film history. He gained more weight for The Insider than he did for Body of Lies, and yet still did Gladiator a year later.
When he HAS to be, he will be in shape for a movie. Otherwise his down time is his own, just like you or me.
His acting’s gone flat ? Watch Yuma again. He’s bloody marvelous in it.

Even through my computer I can smell the stench of stale sweat, flat beer and self-importance that emanates from Russell Crowe.

I’ll agree that he wasn’t too bad in Yuma, but it would have been more aptly titled, “FATMAN AND DOBBIN” as he was fat in that one too! I have two friends who don’t know each other, who met him in 2001, and expected him to still look at least a bit like Maximus, but NOOOOO! They both reported that he was so fat that he could hardly walk, and that he had to lean forwards to get it all moving in the same direction, at the same time! Those of you who are supporting this type of weight gain, and loss must not care about his health at all! Most people know that this type of lifestyle is extremely detrimental to a person’s future health!

Russell’s hunk role days are behind him.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but don’t expect to see him in romantic leading man roles – he no longer has the looks for them, and I don’t think he much cares.

As a matter of record Crowe was filming ABM in 2001 from April to July. He was trim – again an easy matter of record – right up to the premiere of that movie in December 2001. At no time was he “so fat he could hardly walk. ” And all this is perfectly easy to research on the ‘Net.
So your friends must have the date wrong or are exaggerating.
“Fat” nowadays seems to mean anyone ten pounds above anorexia. Crowe wasn’t “fat” in Yuma.
In my experience people commenting repeatedly on Crowe’s weight gain don’t care about his health at all.

He could become a ‘hunk’ again if he wanted to. The weight would drop off and he’d get a decent haircut etc. Great actor and his sons are adorable.

He looks comfortably middle-aged to me — which in fact he is.
And exra weight or not, you can’t deny his talent. “A Good Year” and “The Sum of Us” are just two wonderful examples of this man’s abilities.

I think the snarky comments referencing Russell’s weight have more to do with his reputation for being a pri*ck, a rep. which he has, unfortunately, earned honestly.
Throwing a phone at a service worker is no way to enhance your box office appeal.
You have to wonder, just who do these “stars” think support their careers — if not the people who pay good money to see them perform?

I loved AUSTRALIA, the critics are idiots for bad mouthing this movie. Hugh Jackman is perfect for the part. R. Crowe would have been good, he is always good in a movie. But this part is for a hunk and Russell gave up that total years ago.
