RYAN DUNN WAS A BIGGER JERK THAN WE REALIZED

a>

Every day we feel less and less sorry about the death of “Jackass” star Ryan Dunn in that spectacular car crash. He was no teenager – 34 year old Dunn’s blood alcohol limit was over twice the legal limit and he was driving his Porsche at 130 miles an hour. Anyone that stupid and arrogant is no great loss. He had no respect for his own life or anyone else’s- and could easily have killed even more people. His behavior was disgraceful and self-serving. It’s an embarrassment to his grieving family. The world has one less jerk in it.

  1. Although I agree, that last sentence is a bit harsh, Janet. I am just mad that Ebert had to apologize for a tweet that was 100% correct all because his friends and family were offended. Truth hurts is all I can say. He was drunk and he can not be held as a hero in any way the way the other jackass people (Bam, Johnny Knoxville, etc) are out to make him.

  2. Have to say I agree. He could have easily killed somebody on the sidewalk. How would you feel if it was your mother or your sister? And if that had happened there wouldn’t be all this hero worship.

  3. Omg Janet you are one billion percent right!!! All those jackass ppeople have always disgusted the crap out of me, but the real point is that the world doesn’t need people like this stupid dunn guy, I don’t know who the passenger was but if I was their family I would sue dunns estate for anything it might own and any future royalties. Good riddance to bad rubbish!!!

  4. The poster Patrick is SebastianCanada.

Also in other news, Reta needs Summer’s Eve and vag lubricant before sexual intimacy. Patrick told me so!

  5. Didn’t the “friends” he was drinking with try to stop him or hide his keys? I feel bad that another life has been taken that shouldn’t have been.

At 34, a person knows better than to drink and drive. Did his association with the Jackass crew and Philip John Clapp (Johnny Knoxville) fuel his demeanor on being fearless?

It isn’t a surprise that one of those Jackass crew were killed. It’s sad but not surprising. They are all too old to be taking those kind of risks. Normal people take stupid risks as teenagers and then get over it and come to their senses. The Jackass crew tried to make taking physical risks a trendy and cool thing among them.

  6. Not that disgusting Ryan did anything honorable, praiseworthy and noble to impress his family .. before he foolishly and with no fears gunned the car and deliberately killed himself and destroyed the life of whom you’d think was his friend.. Oh La-la I will live forever, just daring the devil one more time.

  7. The world is full of alcoholic risk-takers, wishing them dead is pretty extreme. I wish he would have lived and received help for his issues. I’m sure he didn’t think about his actions resulting in the death of anyone—if that were the case, I’d concur with Janet and the rest of you. I hope his family and friends find peace and preach the words of prevention that will help others escape this horrible fate.

  8. Drugs, alcohol, pills, short life and quickly forgotten ‘career’. HW really destroys lives in the name of entertainment and dollar almighty.

  9. BAM and his mom and some friend(s) talked about how they are afraid of Dunn’s driving. One friend even states he has a death pool on Ryan that he will die by car. They talk about his terrible driving and his past accidents.
    You can listen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULdt_CabPIg

  10. …….so be thankful he’s gone, moms of america!!

  11. He did have 23 prior driving convictions—including at least one for DUI—seems his death by car was an extremely likely outcome.

I still think Ebert was out of line with his tweet; I don’t know what purpose was served by it—other than to make an obvious observation about the whole “Jackass” thing.

And for anyone who may know (I don’t have a TV), but I just can’t figure out how they are able to establish speed @130 just by the outcome (without actual black box data or something like that).

Airborne? Collision with tree? Resulting fire? The results would be catastrophic—and fatal—even if someone were traveling at 60mph.

  12. Mona. Google how they figure out crash speeds. It’s relatively basic.
GOOGLE. any thing for that matter….
Greatest invention of our lives you know.
    Use your brain…and ask.
Youtube is useful too if you just want to listen and watch.

  13. Janet, you can expect an angry tweet from Bam Margera for this post. Just as soon as he returns from being photographed/filmed sobbing at the site of his friend’s demise.

  14. What i’m trying to understand is how someone who makes a living destroying people’s reputations can call anyone disgraceful and self serving?

  15. YOU SHOULD ALL BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES. Here’s the deal- be disgusted, be happy, be whatever **BUT BE RESPECTFUL**!!!!!!!!! The bottom line is this man made a horrible decision and paid the ulimate price with his life and the life of his friend WHO MADE THE CHOICE TO GET IN THE CAR so what else do you want from him? To speak ill of the departed is atrocious and makes you look ignorant. This was a human who had a family and had friends who loved him and (while I’m sure they are upset with his actions) your hateful words aren’t making things any better. I would LOVE to find the person who has NEVER drank and drove- not even a SIP of wine or anything. You’re all effing hypocrites. Ryan Dunn and Zachary Hartwell- RIP. May you be angels to your family and friends and perhaps your actions will inspire someone else to think twice.

  16. ^^^Bug off KBella. If this p.o.s. was still alive, he should be charged for vehicular manslaughter. Point blank period!

  17. Oh and btw, I have been a designated driver many a times and caught a few cabs or called for a ride.

I hope that you are not driving around drunk or tipsy!

  18. I agree w/ the comments by H.
Here’s what makes me crazy: why does the American public embrace people who make really bad choices w/ their lives, or act out in nasty ways? What kind of message does this send to our own kids? I’m thinking not just of Ryan Dunn, but the show about teenage moms, Bridezillas, and on and on…

  19. No I will not bug off. Yes he absolutely would be charged with vehicular manslaughter and rightly so. I said he made a poor decision and so did his passenger but my point is that while you are fabulous for being a DD (which I have been and utilized many times myself) to speak without any respect for the loss to his family and friends is reprehensible. And the public has been embracing people who make bad choices for decades- it’s human nature. If you’re concerned about the message it sends to your children then be a parent and use it as a teaching tool to help them learn right from wrong, teach them to be accepting despite not agreeing with everything they see and yet still love them when they make mistakes or when you may not agree with them. And if you don’t like what’s on TV then turn it off- simple as that.

  20. Hi Kbella,
Yes, we do use these people as a teaching tool for our daughter… but so many parents don’t… and it just so happens that our television is being turned off after today (a decision made before Dunn’s death). From now on, it’s Netflix! (Although I am going to miss Mad Men — good that there are no new episodes right now!) 🙂

  21. i do have sympathy for their loved ones, but (at least the driver) was a selfish SOB. it was a preventable death. at least people in other cars out during this time were not hurt.

  22. Remember when, as a stunt, Dunn shoved a toy car up his rectum (and then got x-rayed)—in one of the “Jackass” movies?

Sound judgement was perhaps not his strongest suit.

  23. I never drank and drove. I’m 35. I drive, European style, both hands on the wheel as it’s a f*(king lethal weapon!

Ryan Dunn clearly was an unhappy person as people who are happy, don’t need to constantly self medicate via food, booze, pills, what have you. And regardless of how stupid and sad he was, now after the fact, may Jah bless his soul.

  24. Wow. Yes, he made an absolutely terrible decision, but who are you to claim someone deserves to die?

What a horrific thing to day about another human being. I’ve officially stopped reading your website.

  25. My dad made a lifetime career out of drunk driving and usually with me on the seat next to him shoving my foot thru the bottom of the floor on my side with my fake, invisible brake. In the time before seatbelts, he scared the holy shit out of my on a regular basis and I’m shocked we both didn’t die in a fiery crash and take another family with us, so, no, I don’t drink, let alone drink and drive.
And i’m like you Cara, with my hands on ten and two, having a sister who’s a cop.

This guy killed himself and his friend and could have taken out a whole string of cars with that kind of speed. Alcohol removes the common sense from your brain, as this guy and his friend plainly show. I’m amazed his reached his 30’s! The whole gang of them need to get their shit together and clean up if they haven’t already before they take innocent people to early graves too. Stupid!

  26. I think Janet is correct even though she sounds harsh. This guy lived like a moron, contributed nothing to society and killed himself and an Iraq war vet in the process. Although I feel bad for his family I don’t think it’s any great tragedy that he’s gone. He didn’t care about his own life or the risk he posed to other’s so why should I care? It’s only a matter of time before Lindsay Lohan ends up doing this too and I won’t feel sorry for her either. If you want to destroy yourself why drag other people down with you? If you want to get drunk or high then do it at HOME or take a cab!

  27. Wow, you guys are pretty harsh. Especially since we know that when you’re under the influence of alcohol you’re thinking clearly. Someone lost a life, a friend, a brother, a son.. and no matter how foolish it may have been, I personally think it’s CRUEL for us to point that out and say “oh he’s not in a good place” he died like a true “JackAss”…. TASTELESS. And honestly all of you should hang your heads in shame. Yes what you say maybe true, but does it really need to be said? When you die, I’m sure you won’t want ppl saying “God riddance she really was a nuisance” or “Thank God one less uncaring @SShole is in the world”.. you can do better than that I’m sure.

  28. Casonia...Hells kitchen Paul is nice and can really cook and so can Will but Tommy needs to speak up in order to Win and Elisa is going to drive those men crazy with her company...She is mean and disliked and hope and pray she is next on the chopping bloc says:

  29. Casonia...Hells kitchen Paul is nice and can really cook and so can Will but Tommy needs to speak up in order to Win and Elisa is going to drive those men crazy with her company...She is mean and disliked and hope and pray she is next on the chopping bloc says:

He could had left the car there and come back for it the next day but on the other hand when your wasted your not thinking straight and believe you me..He is paying the price.

Could had would had should had..But it just happen and we will never know why but it did and his family feel that lost each and every day for the rest of there lives and Remember for each person that is killed some one out there really love and miss them dearly.

  32. Janet you are joke.
How dare you say anyones life being taken is not a loss. You are just as bad as you believe Ryan Dunn to be for saying such ignorant things.
