SAM ELLIOTT: THE MAN THAT GOT AWAY

Here’s an interesting piece of historical Hollywood gossip: Back in 1984, Cher and Sam Elliott were cast in Mask – Cher played Eric Stoltz’s character’s mother, and Sam played her biker boyfriend. Cher and Sam had lots of hot scenes together – on and off bikes. She fell MADLY in love with Sam, and felt they were MADE for each other. Elliott had just married Katharine Ross so the timing was awful. Cher moaned to friends that Sam seemed like the love of her life – and she was miserable because she couldn’t have him. She was heartbroken for a long time…

  1. Sam Elliott chose the better woman.

Cher is delusional – I doubt that he gave her any encouragement whatsoever.

And I doubt that Cher was depressed for any length of time!

  2. Seems Cher knew first hand the secret that rarely escapes Texas gals in sewing circles and cherry cobbler confabs: a man with that caliber of brush-tache–who knows how to “deploy it”–is a KEEPER! 😀

(And kudos to “peewee” for getting one right!)

SO…there WAS something that Cher missed about Sonny…

(And we love that Sam is climbing into a big ol’ truck; this is a man who wouldn’t be caught dead in a Prius–even if it was a hearse!)

  3. And regarding said depression of Cher: totally believable.

Who in Hollywood wouldn’t hang her head IN SHAME, for failing to break up a happy marriage (with bonus points for newlyweds)?

  4. so, he gets off for having an affair with cher when he was married huh? typical.
