We were utterly fascinated to learn that when John Lennon died in 1980 he had become a die-hard Ronald Reagan fan! According to Gawker.com, Fred Seaman, who worked for Lennon as his personal assistant for the last two years of his life, revealed in a new documentary that Lennon liked to argue with left-wing radicals who reminded him of his former self. John had met Reagan once and made it clear that if he were an American he would have voted for him. According to the assistant, John had evolved into a very different person in 1979 and 80 than he was back in the 60’s when he promoted love and peace. He was almost embarrassed by his naive and youthful notions. (We have to agree with Lennon, Ronald Reagan wasn’t perfect, but he was closer to perfect than any other politician we’ve known)

Reagan was hardly “close to perfect”, but I don’t live in a fairy tale, and I don’t expect our politicians to be perfect. I do however expect them to do what’s right for the country and its people. Reagan was sadly lacking on that front.
On the other hand, I am somewhat shocked that Lennon admired Reagan.
And don’t forget, Ollie North was operating a gun running business out of the basement of the White House, using the proceeds to finance secret operations in Latin America. Reagan was a thug, immoral, liar of a president. He pretended to be something he wasn’t. Plus, he was out of it for most of his presidency, which was really run by other people. Can you say BUSH?

It’s pretty well known that both of them cheated and Nancy was well-known for going after Sinatra. They also followed astrology and Nancy consulted the stars and told him what to do. However, at least Ron didn’t have monthly Ramadan dinners in the White House as is occuring now, which last time I checked, that was a Muslim function. Also, when BHO makes speeches, the background is not the American Flag, but rather a gold silk curtain with Muslim writings on it. Watch his latest speech on world news and look at the curtain.

I saw this yesterday & showed it to my teens, who love John Lennon. They were shocked! For my lifetime, I would put Reagan as one of the worst. During his reign (& I do mean reign), the long downward slide of the middle class began, with his union busting, corporation enriching, and tax “simplification”. By the way, when he “simplified” taxes, he raised my own taxes. Before that bad law, I was able to file long form and get tax money back (I was working two jobs to put myself thru college), afterwards, I had to file short form and pay. I wish the Reagan fans would ever say specifically what it is they think is so great about him. They always just say he was great, and leave it like that.
btw, I used to party with his kids Ron & Patti in the 80’s. They loved their parents, but hated their politics, at that time anyway.

My mother-in-law was head nurse at Camarillo State Hospital (mental hosp) for 25 years and was there when Reagan shut it down and threw everybody out in the streets. I still find it hard to believe that ever happened and that it was never reversed and new hospitals built with the special needs of these people in mind. The streets are teeming with them now and they are hungry, dirty, scared and confused. Some obviously worse than others, but they have nowhere safe and permanent to go thanks to dear ol Ronnie!
I can’t for half a second believe this crap about Lennon. And I can’t understand how ANYBODY admired Reagan when it was so obvious as he hemmed and hawed trying to speak that he was losing it and couldn’t pull words out of his brain. I knew he had Alzheimers while he was still in office and I thought it was so blaringly obvious. He just tilted his head and paused a long pause and put that look on his face while he hemmed and hawed and looked down at his papers. His made-up face would sparkle, and the powder on his cheeks made the apples in his cheeks so warm and friendly, so we’d believe him even more, but I wasn’t buying because I passed too many homeless, mentally ill people all the time.

Regarding the Reagan followers, I think its an emotional thing with them. They say he “won the cold war” (yeah, sure), and talk about his “morning in America” commercial, but you never get specifics.
