SHOULD THE JACKSONS BE “OVERJOYED” BY THE MURRAY VERDICT?

Why Michael Jackson’s family feels so celebratory since Dr Murray was appropriately found guilty is puzzling – it’s not like he WANTED Michael to die. It reminds us of parents who lose a child to drugs – they desperately want someone else to BLAME because they can’t bear to admit their child destroyed himself. So they accuse the drug dealer of murder. In fact, their children, and Michael Jackson, would still be alive if they hadn’t been addicted to drugs. Period. Murray was the doctor who got caught – what about all the other doctors who gave Michael what he wanted? There’s a lot of malpractice here, but ultimately Michael was a more than willing victim. (Above, La Toya says she’s “Overjoyed.”)

  1. Of course they are. No one is denying that Jackson had issues but that hardly excuses Murray’s conduct. If his family gets a sense of vindication from this, so be it. More important, now that we have a high profile conviction, perhaps it can be used to legislate measures that will further limit physician’s ability to become drug pushers. It could be quite relevant in the war on pill mills. An addict’s bad choices are their own, at least in the beginning. (Not so sure if they are kept sedated as was Jackson, Anna Nicole Smith, etc.) Michael Jackson, his children, family, and friends have paid dearly for his poor choices. It is only fair that the man who so wantonly abused his medical power for personal gain should experience a price as well. Farewell, Doctor Quack, hope the perks were worth it. Enough said.

  2. I agree that the doctor should pay the price, but Jackson was equally culpable. It’s not like Dr Murray’s being guilty makes Michael innocent. LaToya’s reaction is just a plea for attention. It reminds me of how Dina Lohan always blames somebody else for Lindsay’s troubles and never even considers that she could be responsible for her own life.

  3. I totally blame Michael himself as well. Who in their right mind would ever think it was ok to get ANESTHESIA in a home setting?

  4. I’m w/ Muffin and Palermo and you as well, Janet. Dr. Murray WASN’T trying to kill Michael, but when you’re dealing with a long-time drug addict, who’s not exactly in robust health to begin with, you take your chances when medicating him. I want to see Michael’s fake dermatologist go to prison, too — I’m sure he supplied Michael with a TON of illegal drugs.

  5. this is the real verdict: MICHAEL WAS RAISED ALL WRONG!!
(on the other hand: his raising was perfect)

  6. I agree that Jackson was also responsible for his choices and for “doctor shopping.” I do find it curious, however, that a certain company hired Murray on Jackson’s behalf (and reportedly didn’t even pay him what they’d promised him), managed to get all of Jackson’s finances tied up and began raking in the money hand over fist, a process which has coincidentally only increased after Jackson’s death. What is the old adage? “Follow the money.”

  7. Thank you Janet, I agree. Pretty tacky. In my opinion Michael knew what he was doing and his death was an accident.

  8. Amen Janet! If it wasn’t Dr. Murray, it would have been someone else. Michael’s family should have tried harder to intervene, but they didn’t want to stop the gravy train. His mother and Janet were the only people that could have intervened, but mama didn’t want the money to stop, and Janet was busy with her own life (as she should have been). His dermatologist should have been charged as well because he added to his drug cocktail. Michael was indulged by surrounding himself with “yes” people, and in reality he allowed himself to die. I have no sympathy for him…but feel bad for his brainwashed children. I think his mother is to blame for a lot of this, and she should not be raising his children.

  9. Janet, I agree with you. Yeah, Dr Murray did some weird stuff (propofol in a home, not a hospital), but I think he’s the fall guy… they needed someone to blame and he was the unlucky one. I was a MJ fan, but I can see that more people were involved in MJ’s death, including MJ himself… after all, he was the drug addict. What about that Dr. Arnie Klein? Now he’s an odd one if I ever saw odd!

  10. Where were the family and friends and supporters when Jackson distorted his face clearly indicated he was suffering from serious psychological problems? Jackson needed help and apparently wasn’t strong enough to seek it himself. But as long as he kept making big bucks much was overlooked. MJ went from an attractive normal looking Black Man to something resembling the Phantom of the Opera. If he were an ordinary citizen most likely he would be in a psychiatric institution or homeless with no friends. Maybe if he hit rock bottom, an intervention could have worked. But with all his money, everyone seemed to let him get away with so much. And it seems that money, in the last analysis, killed him. Murray was just one of catalysts facilitating his demise.

  11. I agree with Lippp. Maybe Dr Murray should have been charged as a drug dealer. Does anyone know the legal terms for that crime in California?

  12. Murray got the shaft it seems. The pills were wrong and he should lose his license for it but pervert Michael deserved his end and a lot worse.

La Toya is one arrogant black who also hates her real color.

  13. Murray should do his full sentence and never be allowed to practice medicine again. But his place in history is not unique: every high profile drug addict has had an enabler, a “Dr. Feelgood”—the man who supplied Elvis was pretty infamous for this.

Jackson was slowly and inexorably committing suicide. And there wasn’t a person in his immediate circle who didn’t know it—most especially the moneymen who secured his commitment to a string of concerts—and then insured themselves a la Larry Silverstein to be compensated handsomely when he couldn’t deliver.

Jackson was a lifelong cash cow. There are many members of his family, entourage, hangers-on, lawyers, brand specialists, marketeers, etc. who have reaped financial windfalls BECAUSE—not in spite of the fact that—he is dead.

  14. I think the Jackson clan is somewhat disingenuous here; they knew that Michael had a problem and did nothing to stop it and so to blame the man he employed to help him is wrong. Instead they tip toed around the problem because they didn’t want to anger Michael because like most addicts he would have sent them packing and then what? Does this guy deserve to lose his medical license…you bet. Should he be sent to prison, I don’t think so. Michael was a big boy who made his own decisions like it or not, he knew what the risks were and it did not stop him. Everyone involved from the entire Jackson family to the help share to his lawyers share in this blame but most of all it’s on Michael himself.

  15. I agree with a lot of the above posts especially Chicagoland. However, Dr. Murray took an oath to first do no harm. Just because Michael Jackson had serious issues, doesn’t mean that Dr. Murray should get off the hook. He was convicted of involuntary manslaughter so they didn’t need to prove that he intended to cause Michael’s death, but his actions in administering an anesthetic outside of a hospital setting had serious consequences.

What really angers me, is the jail/prison system in California. I heard that since he was convicted of a “non-violent crime” (apparently there’s no violence if you kill with a legal drug), he will be sentenced to the county jail, where they have overcrowding and therefore, he will likely be entering the “Lindsay Lohan Memorial” revolving door.

  16. I believe Dr. Murray is guilty of “greed” not “manslaughter”. Mr Jackson pushed away anyone that tried to interevene with help, including his family. Remember when the family showed up at Neverland to have an intervention?? They were forbidden access to him and he sent them away. This ending was inevitable…..He would have either found someone else to get the meds or done it himself…….so sad……

  17. being overjoyed wont bring MJ back.
The doc should have told simply told the truth, he was hired to keep his client HIGH!

  18. Agreed Janet. He would have gotten those drugs anywhere no matter what. This Doctor is a scapegoat goat…

  19. Shut up pusssykatt! An intervention was tried by the entire family. Your self-righteousness about people you do not personally know has been sickening over the years!

With you and your boozing, pill popping ways. You have no room to talk! Hippo!

    ==Your Neighbor

  20. BTW, Carroll O’Conner got justice for his son by having his dealer charged, so why not the Jackson’s.

  21. His number came up. It was just a matter of time. Remember when he was suicidal when he was being tried for the molestation of children?

  22. “He would have gotten those drugs anywhere no matter what. This Doctor is a scapegoat goat”

Each person has their own conscience to answer to. The doctor knows what he did was wrong and not ethical. Jackson went to many doctors and was told “no” by many doctors.

Just because “He would have gotten those drugs anywhere no matter what. “, it doesn’t make Dr. Murray blameless. He had the power to say NO and he didn’t.

  23. So many of you’ve got the wrong picture.

No; Latoya is proud to be black. Just because so many people in general have over the past few decades have lightened up, instead of slaving away at the sun, or the getting tans at the booths – you get the picture. I along with them, don’t wish to get skin cancer! I’ve dropped 30 shades of color, which is perplexing. I’m biracial, and pretty damn proud of it. But, I’m not sunning myself to the mahogany color I was, to make YOUR stereotypes of “What is black?” just to kill myself!

As for Michael, he’s NEVER been convicted of any wrong doing to children. Check out what the FBI hunt of 10 years has shone – ZIP, NADA! Clean! If you believe other, then you have a small mind, and choose to believe the lies of the tabloids.

Also, Murray deserves Murder TWO. After the Casey Anthony Trial, the State Prosecutors realized that it was much easier to take him down on Manslaughter, without the bells and whistles that got Anthony off. If Anthony had been charged the same, she’d also been found guilty, instead of trying to ram her with the dead penalty.

It’s much better, to get Murray’s Doctor license revoked across the board, not allowed to treat anyone, anywhere. He was never a licensed Cardiologist, too – though he touted himself as one.

FYI – I’m prescribed the same drugs as Keith Ledger, and take more drugs than Michael Jackson had on the premises, minus the Propofol. Any fool knows, that there’s a short life on some of the anxiety drugs. They spool you up, if you take them for bedtime, as they’re meant for daytime use. I was appalled he was given one of those, and expected to sleep! Perhaps 20 mg of Valium would’ve worked. I’m a small female, and 10 mg works on me. But mixing such a CONCOCTION of Benzos is a RED FLAG! I’m given Versed for surgery, then they switch to Propofol. I’m intubated EACH and EVERY TIME, for even out patient procedures, even kidney stones.

As a chronic pain patient, which MJ was, I have many, many more drugs than him. I wake up every 3-4 hours, and have to take something else, to knock me out. It’s miserable. I’m not fully functional, until 10:30 – 11:00 am, each and every morning, because of my insomnia.

I have crushed discs in my lumbar, and refuse fusion. From what I’ve seen, Michael had his messed up, in a 40′ fall in Munich, during his HIStory tour, during “Earthsong.” I don’t think it it ever healed, and contributed to his insomnia.

I know how hellish his life was – mine is still there.

  24. Michael was a pervert and took the easy way out w/ drugs. He should have been hung by his horny bleached out balls in front of Neverland.

La Toya is uppity and laughs at the blacks and thinks she is white.

Get over it and do as Herman Cain said…Get A Job and Quit Complaining!
