But is he an unknown – he’s not a ‘B’ lister or even a ‘minor star’. Someone like Ricky Gervais is getting to that level, but he’s had far more exposure than Coogan has.
I’d go along with ‘only known in certain circles’, but Americans don’t know who or what Alan Partridge is.
I saw Night at the Museum, and it wasn’t until some site ran a picture of Owen Wilson with the Roman gladiator guy that I realized it was Coogan.
What would people know him for in the US? Nothing.

You cant blame someone for your drug or mental problems!
YES, there are toxic people but that is what happens with drug addicts. The only friends drug addicts have are their drug buddies who share their habit.

Yeah right Miss Love. How pathetic can you get waiting for this as an opportunity to get back at Steve Coogan? He introduced Wilson to drugs? Funny how Popbitch in the UK was threatened by Wilson’s Hollywood attack lawyers back in 2004 for writing about his drug habit.
And Janet, I value your stories and judgement, but “made him famous overnight”??? OK, he may not be an A lister but I think he’s pretty much more famous than most of us in the world. You make him sound like some petty Hollywood k-Feddy wannabee. This is the sort of thing that makes people criticise America for being insular – he’s a huge talent, been going since the eighties, but you’ll only take notice of him as a vague link to a link to a Hollywood star’s problem?

You don’t have to be hooked.. you could take something extra bad one time, fighten the hell out of yourself and get a bad trip then get very depressed on how hellish your life is hell living from drug to drug seeking that better high. Courtney is a very nice lady for confessing of her troubles, honestly warning everyone, and actually helping Steve by putting a barrier up to whom he can fool and harm anymore. Yay To Courtney.
