For those who love documentaries, two exceptional ones are being released this month and both are educational AND enormously entertaining. ”Project Nim” documents an experiment back in the 70’s when a baby chimp named Nim was raised by a family and treated just like their other children – in hopes that the chimp would learn to communicate with humans. This is done with the guidance of a psychology professor and various animal experts. The archival film is fascinating – especially compared to interviews with the original participants today. Much is revealed about animal AND human behavior.
Another must-see documentary is “Tabloid.” It’s the true story of beauty queen Joyce McKinney (above) who, in the late 70’s, abducted a Mormon missionary, chained him to a bed and forced him to have sex with her. It happened in England where they had no laws about raping men in those days. Her obsession with the man lasted into the 80’s as she continued to stalk him. Her amazing on-camera recollections of the events VS the tabloid reports are quite hilarious. And it doesn’t end there – in 2008 she took her dog to Korea to have it cloned with more startling results. We laugh every time we think of Joyce. Both of these docs should be sought out and seen ASAP.

BIG documentary fan, here. Thanks for the tip, Janet.

Two others well worth seeking out: “The World According to Monsanto”

    And, “Food, Inc.”

    Very enlightening—and frightening, too.

I definitely have to see both of these. (as well as HBO’s “His Way” recommended by Leo).

Tabloid looks bizarre and interesting. The thought of anyone being raped whether it is male or female is a horrible tragic ordeal. Wonder if there is mental illness on her part?

On a lighter note (and not intended to make light of any type of violence against another person), I have had the occasional dream of a sultry Ann Margret taking advantage of me. In my dream she is chasing me and I am running reallly really slow so she can catch me. lol

I’m guessing Ms.McKinney’s abductee wasn’t too upset since he never came forth even with a somewhat incriminating video or evidence. She sounds a tad unhinged.

    @Mona Garret
I’ve seen the Monsanto, like you said, scary.

That little black pup she is holding is just too adorable. When they are little like that, I have a hard time putting them down.

You laugh every time you think of Joyce…I am not trying to be a Debbie Downer but I seriously doubt you would laugh if she were a man and had kidnapped a woman and repeatedly raped her.

What a weird tone to take, Janet. Thanks for the doc recs though.

Janet is probably referring to the cloning (5 clones) of her dog which she named “BOOGER” ????…..then there’s her three legged horse (seriously). She had a 15 yr old boy break into house in order for her to get funds to buy her 3-legged horse an artificial limb which is sweet but criminal and bizarre.

Janet, I’m disappointed in you. Rape is never funny and I doubt her victim thought so. How can you smile every time you think about a rapist?

That lady in the top picture does have this come hither in an intense, craaazeee, Reta ish kind of energy going on. Her juicey inner thighs would be barely acceptable to “me” in any regretably tied up reverse cowgirl sort of predicament, I suppose. The horror.
@Walt, not that old dream again eh! I fall in mine, a total loss of control…… then it pounces.

@Patrick, You worry me sometimes……I’m beginning to think that you write for Hustler. LOL (You and Reta both!!!). LOL

Yes, “that dream” is almost always with the beautiful Ann Margret (who is gorgeous at any age). Sometimes I even have to run backward to help her out a little.

Am I missing something here? Isnt it impossible to force a man to have sex with you if he doesn’t want to? The old mind over matter thing?

PS It really isn’t funny, if this is really what happened.

Janet. Youtube “Ryan” if you like these sort of things. The guy was nominated for an Oscar for an animated short in 1970 and through alcohol and coke wound up a beggar on the streets of Montreal.
    “Salad Fingers”is interesting too.

TABLOID is coming to our little art house theatre in San Luis Obispo soon — it’s on my must-see list, mainly because it’s by doc maker Errol Morris, who also did “Fog of War” and “The Thin Blue Line.” 🙂

What I think is that rape is NEVER funny. And to the person who asked if men can be made to engage in sex against their will, the answer is YES. Read more at the National Center for Victims of Crime site (jump directly to the info on the physical response that males have when raped): http://www.ncvc.org/ncvc/main.aspx?dbName=DocumentViewer&DocumentID=32361#3

Fear of being hurt and harmed would make him give it to her for one just to get it over with and when some one ties you up and tell you they want to have sex with you…Yes you can fight but if the woman is going to hurt you or Cut you or Slap you or abuse you in other ways then a man will do it and when she is done!!! I am sure he is going to call the Police and have her arrested and press charges and have her go to jail and in my mind I don’t understand Rape of a man!!!Because he has to get it up…To get it in and to get it out but I am sure the man is feeling shame and it hurts him to come out to the world that a woman took something from him that he did not want to share with her and it makes him feel shame and at the same time this man is going to wonder what the world thinks of him as well.

Hey Walt, I saw Ann-Margret in Boston doing “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” some years back, and even at a mature age, she had the older men in the crowd drooling and hanging over the railing. She was still gorgeous.

Oh, and leave it to Strom to inject racism into this discussion.

@jennifer, thank you for the information. I have to shamefully admit that I didn’t think it was possible to rape a man.

“Fast Food Nation”—technically a feature film with documentary overtones—is also very good.

And on the subject of Joyce McKinney—and personalities larger than life, the Maysles’ brothers masterpiece(s):

“Grey Gardens”; “The Beales of Grey Gardens”

and the exceptional HBO feature film “Grey Gardens”

with Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore in some of the best work either has ever done.

Lucky you!!!! I swear my heart rate increases just a little bit when I see her name in print. LOL!! I have to sit in front of the air conditioning vent if I am watching one of her movies!! LOL!! 🙂

I agree both of them are excellent. However, I do prefer the original 1975 “Grey Gardens” documentary film by Albert and David Maysles with Edith “Big Edie” Ewing Bouvier Beale and her daughter Edith “Little Edie” Bouvier Beale.

    It’s mesmerizing and hauntingly sad.

I agree, Walt. The original is by far the best.

In fact, I wasn’t interested in seeing the HBO film, but came across it by chance, and was FLOORED by the way Jessica and Drew channel Big and Little Edie.

Ultimately their portrayals are the most fitting tribute to two extraordinary women.

(By the way, if you didn’t know, Jerry aka “The Marble Faun” has his own website with photos—interesting to catch up with him after so many years.)

Hey thanks for the info on The Marble Faun. I’ve already got it pulled up and I’m ready to take a look! 🙂

Many years ago in the late 70’s, some friends of ours invited us to go with them to see an illusionist/hypnotist. When the guy asked for someone from the audience, my whole table pointed at me. lol I don’t remember a single thing about being put in a hypnotic state but I was told by a room full of people that I danced with mop, kissed it and called it “Miss Margret” and proceeded to sing “Only You” (sung much much better by the fabulous Platters.) LOL!!! What’s worse is that I don’t even know all the words to that song!!!!

Sadly to say, I have been hypnotized twice and have no memory of it. The second time my wife took several photos of me with a digital camera and I remember nothing about it. She still gets hysterical laughing about it.

A man can be raped only if you threaten to kill him or cut him or beat him and that is crazy to me and the man has to be ashamed and really feel down…To have sex with some one you don’t want has to really hurt his emotions and feelings and He would be forever tramatized for life.

The Ape seem interesting and to do that take nerves and patients but it had to be weird for that to happen? But people are down for anything and learning about issues that need to be addressed and concerns for a wild Ape is really being brave and having fun and being around something so new and checking out new directions but it is good that everything was taped and people got to see the action and see how much love is there at the same time….As FAR AS RAPE GOES FOR A MAN HAS TO REALLY BLOW HIS MIND…Because not being attracted to some one has to feel like rape and having to be forced to be with some one that you have no feelings for and no respect for that person and most of all attraction but if some one is hurting you and harm you…you feel scare and stressed but at the same time there is something they want and that is to take a piece of your soul and spirit and push to make you there is key but this poor man made to do this when he does not is pressure and tainted love that is purely spoiled…Being Raped and taken against you will is something that is always going to be in the back of your mind..Forced to share you body and have some one you don’t care about or love….You don’t want some one to put there hands on you and you don’t want them to put themselves in you and have them take away something that you simply don’t want to share with them and that is your love.

Love him or hate him, this guy is a loudmouth who doesn’t hesitate to tell it like he sees it- but there’s one thing he NEVER talks about: his prostate problem. Long story short: he LEAKS! He likes to project an image of macho virility, but under his custom made suits are custom made “diapers.” He’s VERY self-conscious and has absorbent but undetectable “panty liners” sewn into all his underwear, to avoid wet spots. Thanks to his arrogant behavior, he has more than a few enemies and he’s terrified his secret will be exposed and he’ll be forever ridiculed!
