THE DANISH GIRL: WOMEN LOOK BETTER IN SUITS THAN MEN DO IN DRESSES

We are obviously among the few moviegoers who were not particularly impressed with Eddie Redmayne’s performance in The Danish Girl. The movie itself, set in Copenhagen in the 1920’s, is quite lush and beautiful to look at – costumes and locations are exquisitely photographed. Alicia Vikander, who plays Redmayne’s character’s artistic wife is delightful. Eddie’s character was enchanted with women’s apparel and this supports our theory that fashion plays a very large part in a man’s desire to become female. It’s all about the lipstick and silk undies. Anyway, Eddie plays the trans character in female attire as geeky, simpering, and coy. Is THAT what he thinks women are like? Insulting. Fortunately, the female characters in the movie were powerful and smart, so it’s not a total loss.

  1. Eddie Redmayne is an actor. He plays the part the way the director requested he play it.

Furthermore, there are women who are geeky, simpering and coy just like there are some women that are glamorous, sexy, and direct.

I can’t ever tell if Ms. Janet is actually sharing her feelings or just stirring the pot a bit to rattle a chain and cultivate our converations. Either way, it works.

  2. Female characters? Lili IS a female character. Men are interested in becoming female for the clothing? How ignorant, all of it. After seeing this beautiful, enlightening story, you show no understanding — worse, no compassion — for being trans.

  3. More Gay is OK and Trannys are to be praised BS. Is little Angelo in charge?

  4. @Dorothy Mantooth — Well stated.

There’s been other states regarding Caitlyn Jenner that has bothered me.

I am not a fan of Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner or his clan. However, I do believe that he grew up more as an remarkably gifted athletic woman that just looked like a man and had a man’s body. The fact that he finds women sexually attractive doesn’t have anything to do with Caitlyn being male or female.

Yes, the Kardashians and Jenners (some of them) love and thrive in the limelight. They make me sick. Not to mention, they seem like horrible parents. However, as much as Caitlyn maybe enjoying coming out and finally being “herself”, I don’t believe it was done for publicity. I believe it was her way of feeling normal to herself. Maybe for once being true to herself even if she is in her mid 60’s. Better late than never.

  5. It doesn’t matter how much this movie sucked it will win a slew of Oscars anyway because Hollyweird is obsessed with this subject matter. They are intent on making the public accept this psychological disorder as normal.

  6. Anybody who is out of the mainstream is going to feel disenfranchised. That goes for the trans-gendered, gays, shamed, singles, divorced, balding, etc.
