kathy-griffin-050803.jpgSince we revealed that Kathy Griffin was PRETENDING to reconcile with her exhusband Matt Moline on her reality TV show My Life on the D-List , we’ve learned a LOT more! Way more than Kathy is likely to reveal on Larry King! Let’s backtrack. Last September while filming season one, Kathy learned from her bank that SOMEONE had been using her ATM card and draining one of her bank accounts.Money is VERY important to Kathy – friends consider her frugal. An investigation proved it was her own husband Matt. He had been quietly withdrawing $500 – the limit – every day for many months. What was Matt’s problem – was it drugs? Another woman? Gambling? None of the above. Kathy was so upset she sent the D-List cameras home and filed for divorce. “She’s not quite the victim she appears to be” revealed an insider. Apparently when Kathy married Matt she told him “I will never support you – you have to pay half the bills.”
Matt found himself caught up in Kathy’s busy schedule – she hates to travel alone and wanted him with her at all times. He had no time to run his computer business and couldn’t earn enough money to pay his bills. (When they went out to dinner, Kathy expected HIM to pay.) So he started robbing Peter to pay Paul. He took the money from Kathy and paid his bills and spent the rest on her!
The network wanted her married on the show and that’s why Matt returned for season two. It was all ACTING – they pretended everything was okay. Insiders feel the reason Kathy recently revealed Matt’s thievery was to boost her show RATINGS. He is described as “humiliated – a broken man.” Ironically Kathy hopes they can remain friends! It’s a real soap opera and we hope there’s a happy ending for both. Meanwhile, we’re not going to miss an episode of D-List.

Wow, I never would have guessed that. He looks REALY unhappy in this season’s show — like he’s the guy always left holding his wife’s purse at the department store, except the department store is HIS ENTIRE LIFE!

he’s an idiot! Why would he marry her in the first place?

If she wanted him around all the time, and he has receipts to show he spent money on her and just travelled around helping her career, then I have so much less sympathy for Kathy! And revealing the story to the media? It’s like Hilary Swank, but she needed ratings for a reality show. awful…

She’s the idiot. She’ll never find another straight guy to love her.

    I still say gambling problem.

The only way Kathy Griffin will ever have a man is if she pays one. What?? She doesn’t realize that at her age?

come on, guys. Kathy G. is cute and bubbly. She isn’t Jessica Alba but most people aren’t! Of course she should find a new guy someday.

This IS true 100%. When Matt moved to LA (with no job and no savings) Kathy made him pay rent to live with her. She used to make her assistant ask him for his rent money when he was late with it.

I don’t how much of this is true but you can’t treat a man like this. The only kind of man who would take this humiliation is one that you’d have to PAY… Wake up Kathy! You had it good!

I thought in the first season that they referred to Matt’s computer company that made a fair amount of income. I think the fantasy football/gambling gig is more of a possibility. Or, maybe he just thought he should be paid for doing her hair. Either way, I love her. Hate that it didn’t work out, but it never made sense – the trips to Vegas with “her gays” and then Matt was there too. He almost seemed superfluous at times.

I think if you lived with Kathy and were a normal person, you would think you were living in hell. Sure she looks all fun and funny, but take a look at what she’s really all about behind the scenes – anything free, swag bags, money, celebrity, she is a frugal complaining tightwad Asshole behind closed doors – the next guy better be super rich to make her happy, because money is ultimately all she cares about.

First, Kathy ain’t no beauty, but she’s no fuglier than Janet Charlton. And second, the woman is THE funniest comedian I know. Third and last, however cheap she may be, there is NO excuse for stealing from your SO.

Wrong 7:59, Janet’s pretty, and Kathy is profoundly butt-ugly. There’s nothing wrong with that except she’s so egotistical, she insists on living in a fantasy world where she’s a hottie. A when anyone bursts that bubble, as Jay Leno did last year, she has an emotional breakdown about it. The woman is a train-wreck. Good luck finding another man willing to pay for the “privilege” of dining with you Kath…

I love the Kathy Griffin stuff! I must have more! I want every juicy detail down to the last nuance. I am a religious watcher of that show and I just can’t figure out what he’s doing waiting on her hand and foot. What’s in it for him? I thought maybe he’s on the payroll of the TV show too. I don’t agree that she is totally without charm, but his role is truly extreme. And $500 per day is a lot of money, even if he has expenses. That is $15,000 per month. Is he really taking that much?

Matt is always waiting on Kathy hand and foot. I feel bad for him. The question is why did he have to steal from her? Probalby because she is so greedy she was not sharing any of her wealth with him and how is an average person suppose to pay for that lifestyle. Its too bad she humiliated him on CNN and now he feels bad. In the long run he is better off without her. Now he doesnt need to be an unpaid servant and Kathy is ALL ALONE!

    Sexism alert:
Ask any Family Therapist (Marriage Counselor) and they’ll tell you that 9 times out of 10, the woman will be the one to have the attitude of “we have OUR money and I have MY money.”
It would be no surprise at all is their relationship succumbed to the reversal of typical (note I did’t say ‘natural’) roles.

kathy griffin was more pathetic on larry king than star jones. larry king live must be a publicist wet dream. this was such a ploy to grab some attention.
$72k is small change compared to what griffin brings in. so now we know she is not only a liar, but a tightwad.
loosen the purse strings honey….only the queens will by things for you….you gotta pay to play with the young and straight.

Sadly, Kathy Griffith seems right on track to become the Joan Rivers of her generation. Supposedly funny on stage, nasty shrewish harridan everywhere else. Clearly impressed with her own rise to minor celebrity which she achieved by mocking the very celebrities she wants to hang with. All she needs now is a series of bad facelifts and a side-kick talentless daughter.
Without taking sides in the “is it really ‘stealing’ if you’re taking money from your spouse?” debate, my sense is that Matt is probably better off disembarking from the Kathy Griffith ride now. If you recall, Joan’s husband stayed on board until he killed himself.

don’t people realize that fantasy sports leagues are only $20 to $200 for the entire season, which in baseball is 9months and football is 6 months. i don’t know how some one could spend $72k on fantasy sports leagues. matt was never shown gambling but it’s widely known that kathy loves vegas and blows a good chunk of change. i heard she’s lost close to $70k in one weekend.

I think there is something weird about this whole thing. Legally, I believe it is impossible to “steal” from your spouse. It may be possible if she set herself up as a corporation and that bank account was held in the name of the corportation.
The law even requires that married people are responsible for each other’s debts and in a community property state like California, with a divorce, if he didn’t sign a prenup, she would have to split with him, half of what they acquired during the marriage, which would be a heck of alot more than the $75,000 that he supposedly stole.
