THE NAMESAKE WILL SURPRISE YOU
If you’re going to the movies and Wild Hogs isn’t your thing – we suggest “The Namesake.” It’s a fascinating, human story about a newlywed couple from India who move to New York City to start a new life. The shock of the change to a cold, grey, lonely city makes the viewer understand the difficulties of being an immigrant. The couple has children and eventually assimilate, moving to the suburbs. Their Americanized son and daughter present a whole new set of problems. Kal Penn of “Harold and Kumar go to White Castle” is particularly endearing and entertaining as their teenage son who hates his foreign-sounding name. It’s an epic story following generations of likeable people and their customs, and you walk out feeling like you just read a good book.
