Last weekend Jim Carrey had a barbecue at his Brentwood home and invited a gaggle of celebrity friends and their families. There was an abundance of food and swimming and activities all afternoon and the crowd had a great time. To top it off, Jim announced there would be a screening of Da Vinci Code at 7pm. Just like that the place CLEARED OUT! The prospect of having to endure the excruciatingly long and dull movie sent everyone rushing to their cars. Jim was astonished – but at least he didn’t have to worry about getting rid of straggling guests who don’t know when to say goodnight. No word on whether Jenny Mc Carthy scrammed too.
This is the first time I recall a celebrity not screening one of their own movies. But since Carrey’s latest movie was shelved in pre-production, perhaps he just doesn’t have anything not beseiged by moths worth showing.
