In 1972, Playboy had it’s highest circulation EVER – 7 million. It’s been downhill since then, (for MOST magazines) and Playboy is up for sale for 300 million. Hugh Hefner’s life hasn’t changed a lot – his previous three blonde “Girls Next Door” have been replaced by younger girls. (Above, Hef and his main girlfriend Crystal Harris plus the mischievous Shannon twins.) But the party attitude HAS evolved. Nowadays the mansion is more of a venue – rented out for events and parties. And there have been cutbacks on the weekly “movie night” – there is no longer a free buffet dinner for the fifty or sixty guests! What will all those hungry moochers DO?

The place is in serious need of renovating inside. It has lots of wood paneling from the 70’s inside. Hef doesn’t even own the “mansion” anymore. It’s owned by the corporation. The property alone in Holmby Hills must be worth at least 200 Million. Will require serious fumigation to remove all the DNA that has been deposited there over the years. Especially the underground grotto.
Wearing a robe all day used to look like a “playboy”, now grandpa looks like he lives in a nursing home. Being surrounded by teenage bimbos is just pathetic and really rather sad.

The reason the mansion is in need of repairs is because all the decades of germs and bacteria that have been deposited are eating it away, much like black mold that infects some houses. This old man is so pathetic, but even more pathetic are the multitudes of whores and sluts that hang out with him. The local pharmacy must have a heck of a time keeping him supplied with Viagra.

For many of you younger people that are not aware that Hef was a big pioneer of journalism and first amendment rights during the 60’s and 70’s…His editorials and articles in his magazine were on the forefront of politics and what was really happening in the country during and very transitional time…He was on the cutting edge for many decades and that is without the naked pictures in the magazine!
I think the “Girls Next Door” is now an embarrassment to him with this new batch of “girls.” The twins on the TV show are 19 years old. That’s the part where no one will tell Hef to his face that he really looks like an idiot on the show now. That’s what is diminishing his reputation at this point not his many years of working like a dog to make Playboy an empire past or possible present!
PS…The mansion was always owned by the corporation!
I agree with Bu, Hefner is looking like an old fool trying to hold on to some kind of past. With Holly, Brig, Kendra gone these gals are just plain bad. The show is unwatchable and he always looks like he just had his undies changed when he walks out.
Thanks for pointing out Hef’s cutting edge politics, Bu. He truly was a trailblazer in this time. In fact, the Playboy Foundation still supports documentary films that fit the parameters of what Hef used to be all about.
Unfortunately, the foundation doesn’t have a whole lot of dollars to give out any more,
only about $3,000 per project, to help finish films that have already begun post-production…

The Playboy mansion was the scene for many of comedians who would go there and coke out, i.e., Belushi and Farley.
If you want to read a good book, try Wired, the story of John Belushi. It was even diluted a little to what Belushi did at the Playboy mansion. Disgusting.
