THE REAL REASON GRUMPY CAT LOOKS LIKE THAT

Internet sensation “Grumpy Cat” has cleverly developed a career that just keeps on going. She’s already released her SECOND book and the first one was on the New York Times Bestseller List for TEN weeks! Grumpy’s owner says that her facial expression is caused by feline dwarfism. (This is very unsettling –it’s horrifying to imagine cats deliberately being bred to be dwarfs with all the health challenges involved. What’s WRONG with you people?) Nonetheless, Grumpy is currently on a book signing tour and made a highly successful appearance at Kitson in Las Vegas.

  1. New York Magazine did a write up on Grumpy Cat, and the owner. At least six months ago. Interesting story. The archives are on line.

  2. Did you know about Munchkin cats? They have very short legs–can’t jump up on tables/counters. They started out as a genetic mutation, then were purposely bred. I like cats that belong to other people.

  3. Hey Janet, I could be wrong, but I don’t think that this cat is ‘bred,’ to be a dwarf, its just a genetic mutation of some kind, which sadly, results in the type of physical features you see.

I don’t think this was a deliberate breeding process, but rather an unhappy birth defect.

There is a munchkin cat, which has very short legs, but I think that Grumpy Cat is just a product of aberrant genetics.

Well, lets hope that he and all the media cats that have gone before, will continue to spark awareness about the total awesomeness of cats.

Like kittens? go to the Itty Bitty Kitty Committee website to see the cool chronicles of a lovely family that takes in and fosters many ‘batches,’ of adorable kittens.

  4. i won’t have any animal in my house that shits in a box I have to empty thank you very much.

  5. Everyone knows grumpy was a dwarf. Happy, Sleepy, Doc, Sneezy, Bashful, Dopey and GRUMPY
