THIS AUCTION IS LIKE A ROY ROGERS AND DALE EVANS ESTATE SALE

Roy Rogers has always been our cowboy hero and we just HAD to see what Christie’s is auctioning off from the Roy Rogers Museum. We pulled photos of our favorite items. Roy and Dale’s parade quality wardrobes were mostly made by Nudie the Rodeo Tailor and Roy’s outfits are expected to bring in $5000 to $7000 while Dale’s might be more affordable in the thousand dollar range. Too bad she was so tiny. We love the framed children’s cowboy and cowgirl ensembles ($1500 to $2000) and the Rogers family dishes (a full set of Wallace China in the Westward Ho pattern $3000 to $5000) Incidentally, Roy’s fringed gabardine cowboy suits are in remarkable condition and his son explained that his dad grew up poor and always took meticulous care of his fancy clothes.

  1. “Nudie the Rodeo Tailor”? I’m dying laughing. On a serious note, I heard they were auctioning off Trigger too. I wish I had the money to buy him and bury him.

  2. Nudie was the most famous western tailor. Roy and Dale had much class….imagine comparing her outfits to Kim K!

  3. Strom: Kim K again? What the hell does SHE have to do with this?

On another note, I dig the blue saddle and I would have loved to have had one like that when I was in my teens and had my big pinto horse Patches to ride. He would have strutted his stuff for me proudly in that blue saddle, I know he would, because he rode in the Rose parade for 13 years in the silver saddles. My dad bought him from the guy who did that. I love the aqua cowboy hat too, and would LOVE to wear it for a poetry reading!

  4. I bet those clothes and stuff go for way more than they expect. Back in the day EVERYONE loved Roy and Dale, and all those folks are old and have tons of money.

  5. The Smithsonian Institute has indicated they would love these items, but I guess the family needs the money.

  6. JANET: I love love love this about Roy and Dale. All together now….Hip Hip Hooray and 3 cheers for Janet.

  7. yep, ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF THE DOWNFALL OF THE UNITED STATES!!

  8. Reta, I cannot believe I am defending Strom, but…

Strom’s point was that the Hollywood of old had class, which is true. After the seventies, it all began to go downhill. Now it is largely populated by reality show whores and douche bags, and 5th-rate actors who have crappy sitcoms or appear in a stream of tired romantic comedies or action flicks. And – male or female – most of them dress like they are turning tricks.

  9. Great Americana history dying off and what a shame; our damn treasonous politicians and their judicial socialist , globalist judges have done this culturalcide by high estate taxes, hate-crime diversity aimed at original-Americans ( Euro-stock people ) instead of constitutional reprsentative democracy. Nudie Cohn’s Western wear are fancy and very sexy; Nudie followed in the ” bootsteps ” of other great rodeo tailors such as Rodeo Ben and Nathan Turk. I live Roy’s character and his great cowboy outfits, especially his fancy pants—you go Roy !
