We were NOT completely surprised by the Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes split that was announced today because it was inevitable. It’s all about Suri. She just turned six and it’s time for major educational decisions to be made. So far, she’s been homeschooled by Tom’s two Scientology sisters who always live nearby, and they also tutored his other two children. Katie’s not happy with that. She wants Suri to have the same memorable school and educational experiences that SHE had, and be more of a normal kid. She can see that Tom’s other children are hampered by their minimal education. Katie’s lawyer announced that “Katie’s concern is her daughter‘s best interest.” And she means it. Katie and Suri were surrounded by Tom’s Scientology family and all their Scientology housekeepers, bodyguards, nannies, etc. every day – she rarely spent time with her husband alone. That’s not the world she wants Suri to grow up in.

Thank you Janet. I am not surprised by this in that I read a couple of blinds about a couple who was close to divorcing, with one having a big event that the other did not attend. Katie did not go to the Rock of Ages premiere.
If this story is true, and the break up is because she does not want her daughter raised as a Scientologist (and frankly she’s been in NYC more than CA lately), then I will stand and applaud her. I wasn’t sure was tough enough to stand up to him and that cult but perhaps motherhood has given her a spine.

Not a surprise. If you look at the photos of her and Suri this year, you see a woman that is happy……truly happy. Katie doesn’t look crazy, haggard and dazed anymore.
There have been hints and rumors going crazy for about two years. I hope and pray that Katie sticks to her guns and does what is best for the little child.
I bet Okra (Oprah) is an anxious mess trying to get the exclusive interview. No jumping up and down declaring a fake love to the world.

@Walt, just a month or so ago, Katie was photographed everywhere looking more haggard than ever. Rumor was she was doing it to annoy Tom because he likes his wife to look the best at all times. Now that they are divorcing, she suddenly dyed her hair and started dressing so much better. Within the last few weeks, the photos have been amazingly better. She must have gotten what she wanted because she is no longer trying to piss him off.
I wish the headline read “Tom and Katie broke up because of Scientology” not Suri. What a shame to blame a child in a headline like that.

How dumb does Katie and the Little Tommy Hitler think we are. The divorce is only **partly** because of SCI’s influence on Suri. I think Katie rebelled at spending many hours a week at the SCI center on thetan/counselling/clearing sessions and she finally had it up to here. The only thing now is she has to watch her back. If the SCI cult, David Miscavage, and tiny Tommy even hear a hint of her bad-mouthing the SCI that they worship, then she will be in danger. He will do anything and everything to get full custody of Suri. If she writes a book about the cult spilling her guts, she will be followed and closely watched because as previously stated, SCI is run by brain-washed demons whose goal is to only get money from the stupid-ass celebs.

Her contract was up, that’s the real story. What lunatic will he get to be his next beard? He and Travolta should get together and we could all watch the fireworks of the cult imploding
Oh please!! She knew Tom was a scientologist from the beginning. She didn’t even marry him until after Suri’s birth. How else did she think this child was going to be raised? I actually have a friend who’s a doctor at UCLA who knew about Tom Cruise’s sterility and that Chris Klein was the biological father. He looks a little like Tom so it was easy to pull the ruse off. Tom needed a boost in his public image so he hired Katie to pose as his pregnant fiancee and then wife. Yes, the contract is up and she gets the money. The tragedy here is that Suri will still be in the clutches of the scientologists to a degree and that’s scary.
Suri looks like Katie and Tom…I hate to say that, but she is is his and I’m sure Tom had a DNA test too to make sure!

One of my best friends is a second generation Scientologist and she has been “instructed” to “disconnect” from her brother who has questioned certain Sci teachings. Her parents have basically disowned her brother under duress. Scientology is a cult. NO QUESTION!!!
I hope that Katie can get that poor little girl as far away from TC as possible. I don’t believe the marriage was a contract to beard, Katie was star struck and in love, and promised a better career. Tom Cruise probably has a lot of baggage aside from the gay rumors. He was special ed in school, displays extreme ADHD unmedicated behavior, and is controlling to an extreme. Remember the post a few months ago when Katie was forced to walk around with a walkie-talkie so Tom could chirp her constantly in the house? There are a lot of people out there who don’t reveal who they really are until they sign on the dotted line of the marriage certificate, and that would be Tom.
Maybe this time, Tommy will arrange a contract with someone his own height or shorter. Good for Katie, she looked zombified the entire 5 years. Cults are dangerous.

Well stated and I agree with everything except the contract. I do think that she was in awe of him, and that he surpresses his (alleged) homosexual desires which adds frustration to his life and those around him. I think the (alleged) sexual preference, living a lie to himself and the public, his inability to maybe fit in the way he wanted to in school or otherwise, coupled with his natural insecurities and even his shorter stature “could” all add up to someone that was looking for an answer…..looking to fit in……wanting more than to just blend in but to rule or dominate……
He’s come a long way but the situation could be dangerous for her given the power and money attached to the cult.

My opinion (only) on your question is: There have been rumors that Kelly Preston is a lesbian and they had some kind of agreement. If she is not, then who knows what goes on in the heads of celebrities. Most all of them live in a fantasy-world anyway and are somewhat screwed up in the head.

I read an interesting tidbit yesterday: all of TC’s wives were 33 at the time of the divorce. Apparently it’s his unlucky number.
To all of you who said that Katie knew about him being in Scientology before she married him. Of course she knew he was totally into Scientology. However, I think she did not know this: “HOW EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY CONTROLLING SCI IS”.
I think Katie was so besotted by Tom Thumb in the beginning she probably overlooked a lot of stuff that eventually she wasn’t able to ignore any longer. I’m sure she doesn’t want her child subjected to all the ridiculous crap she’s seen in the last 5 or 6 years, too. I must say if I was stupid enough to date Tom Thumb and his crazy cult insisted on “handlers” being present all the time to where I couldn’t even go to the bathroom without one, it would have been a huge red flag to me! Its amazing to me how the American public has been ’outraged’ at Tom’s couch jumping but turn a blind eye to his incessant profanity and promotion of sexual immorality in his movies. Its obvious that “Lyin-tology” provides no remedy for man’s sin nature which prevents him from approaching an awesome holy and righteous God. (“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23”) Cruise needs to be redeemed by the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, providing him eternal life. Unless a true miracle occurs, I’m afraid Tommy C. has crossed the line and is too far gone to even realize what a demonic cult he is in. That goes for Travolta, Kirstie Alley, Juliette Lewis, Priscilla Presley, Will Smith, etc. Of course, while there is life and breath, there is still a chance for them, but they have to get out of SCI, be deprogrammed and fed pertinent Bible Verses. Otherwise, they will be in hell forever with their messiah, L.Ron Hubbard and all other atheists.
Most people think “it” isn’t going to happen to them. Katie threw caution to the wind and entered into marriage hoping for the best. and believe me, Almighty Tom assured her that they were blessed by the stars.
She tried to make it work, but you can’t be happy when you must pretend to be someone else day in and day out.
We all have a breaking point and Katie reached hers. Nicole went before her and Katie knows how that turned out, so she planned very carefully with the help of a very good Dad/lawyer her exit strategy.
She had more dirt on Tom and wasn’t afraid to wield it as power over him.
I never really thought about her much, but my hat’s off to her. Her exit from the #1 COS Star will no doubt help many others who are trapped in abusive relationships.
