WE WON’T FORGET OUR HANDY MAN JIMMY JONES

We cannot let the passing of Jimmy Jones and his amazing falsetto voice go unnoticed here. He died recently at the age of 82 but we love to remember him singing his 1960 hits “Handy Man” and “Good Timin’.” He personified the R&B singer of that time – a handsome man with slick hair, a shiny suit, and smooth moves. He wrote the song “Handy Man” and it became a hit for other singers like Del Shannon and James Taylor long after Jimmy did it. Let’s dance.

  1. Those are some pretty impressive vocals. God bless him.

  2. RIP

Born in Alabama died in NC.

He and Sam Cooke were miles ahead of the current BLACK rappers.

  3. World has lost yet another true talent who didn’t need auto tune, studio magic or whatever they pretend to do these days. RIP Mr Jones.

  4. Janet, you will lose readers and ‘unique page impressions’ unless you stop blogging about the Jacksons.

  5. Very cool Janet. Lovely version although I am partial to Sweet Baby James.
