WEALTHY FRENCH CELEBRITIES IRATE OVER 75% INCOME TAX ARE LEAVING!

We can’t help but wonder if there will be a mass exodus of celebrities and other wealthy citizens in France because their new 75% wealth tax starts next year. Anyone earning over $1.3 million is subject to the new tax and these taxpayers are outraged. (And we thought WE had it bad here!) Iconic actor Gerard Depardieu loudly attacked the government for the new tax and announced he is moving to Belgium. He was heavily criticized by politicians and the media. Karl Lagerfeld also voiced his anger and we can imagine many in the fashion industry are also upset. Alain Delon and Johnny Hallyday successfully relocated out of the country under the radar.

  1. Johnny Depp already left–prior to splitting with his long time girlfriend. Didn’t Angelina and Brad move to France in a huge estate and sell some of their Los Angeles properties?

  2. These are the very libs screaming for tax hikes and then balk when they have to pay?

  3. Good one, Bluejay!
Pretty much hits the nail on the head.
    Pay Up, Bitch!!!

  4. France has turned into a haven for expat celebs and Arabs, neither of whom pay the high tax rate their own citizens are hit with. Not much different than Los Angeles, come to think of it.

  5. France is not the only greedy government. But I do find these tax rates excessive.

For every four days you work you really worked three days for the government and only one day for yourself. Now tell me that isn’t crazy.

Our country is just as crazy, they demand so much money in taxes when you file your return, meanwhile you pay taxes on every paycheck you get throughout the year and every time you purchase something you pay taxes on that, yet I rarely see any improvements. The streets need sweeping, I see pot holes, I see homeless people, I see a very undereducated society, but on the news I see crook politicians all the time. I don’t think this country is going in the right direction. But I don’t blame our president because we have been getting the shakedown for decades. Every year they want more and more and more of our hard work. We go to jobs we can’t stand, only to give over half our money to our beloved government officials so they can eat at fancy restaurants and expense the meals down the road; all with those days that we work when we might be sick or when we would rather spend more time with our families.

Even The Lord only asks for 10%!

  6. If the American public would wake up and research what our public officials (including the sacred cow teacher, police, fireman, soldier) receive in salary and benefits and see the mass duplication of services with the resulting overhead they would see where their tax $$$ is going, much of it wasted. Become aware and say NO to the growth of government and insist the money is spent frugally and wisely.

  7. Depp never lived in France full time but the press always got confused and he often corrected the. Neither do Brangelina.

  8. strom you need to lay off people who put themselves on the line everyday. you’ve gained a little bit of credibility, don’t lose it over an uneducated comment.

  9. Why can’t they do that to New York, then bloomberg will leave and move back to Boston.

  10. It’s only an uneducated comment for those whose ox is gored. I don’t need a tutorial on what to say.

Everyone is on the line every day and the so called “first responders” have seen huge increases in pay and benefits while most Americans have seen decreases. No one forces them into the jobs, like those who were drafted years ago, so they need to also have their belts greatly tightned. Cut their pay and benefits or wish them well if they want to go elsewhere to make more money (they cant).

  11. “Uncle Karl” looks embalmed.

And Strom, you know those are “fightin words”. We’re not allowed to denigrate our civil servants even though many (not all, there are some really good people out there) that I have come to know in my profession, mail it in on a daily basis. Benefits and raises are not given based upon merit in many cases, but to not give the unions what they want is viewed as politically incorrect.

  12. Why do they have to tighten their belts when the local munci over charge for home taxes. They fleece homeowners to give to teachers, police officers and fire fighters? I hate police officers but they deserve their pensions. They need to fleece billionare and millionares that are in office fleecing the taxpayers but of course that is not going to happen.

  13. City, County, State, and Federal workers have received the most massive increase in pay and benefits of any middle class Americans over the past 10 years without contributing ANYTHING extra and have not seen any of the changes that have come to American business in downsizing or outsourcing. This is the largest looming problem to face America’s budget.

Cut their pay and benefits immediately and wish any who can do better a chance to leave (they won’t).

  14. It’s better if they just forced the very rich to adopt and raise a homeless, immigrant family.. from birth to death and their heirs.. maintain all the area surrounding their properties and not have a vote on how that is done.. problems solved

  15. No, it would be better if the rich gave airfare to an “illegal immigrant” family to send them back where they came from, or Canada, their choice.

  16. Our Prime Minister has slammed the door, asshole.
We’re not letting any immigrants in unless they are young, bi-lingual and educated up the yin yang.
    Send them to Kentucky.

  17. Pied Piper can’t make a comment without slandering a poster. Maybe too many cookies and blueberry muffins!

  18. it probably wasn’t too many cookies @Strom, it was likely a lethal combination of idiots, you know … moronic and ethically deficient posters like yourself !

  19. Yep the national anthem can be: Oh Canada, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, and China too!

  20. Calling you an “asshole” is slander? Simply stating fact.
Feel free to point out any inaccuracies?
And you’re going to lump those countries in with Canada? I didn’t
know they had national medicare too?
Send them to the Bluegrass State.
    Lots of call centre jobs.

  21. No expert on KY but dont think there are call centers there. Plenty of horses and whiskey that Canadians love to drink at grossly inflated prices. Watch out for the chinkies or add them to the Pied Piper band!

  22. you know Strom,

for a man who offers nothing except dull witted race hatred, a man who knows nothing beyond the confines of his trailer park mind and person who’s sole contribution is a pathetic obsession with the alleged sex lives of complete strangers, you, criticizing immigrants from anywhere seems utterly ridiculous.

I rather a blind, dead, illiterate immigrant teach my children rather, than you, any day of the week.

Ignorance can be temporary but your hatred, is permanent.

  23. Poor little Glen B is always ready to throw out a yelp but contributes nothing to the threads or the truth.

Johnny Hallyday left France previously but returned…he was born in Belgium I believe.
