WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BETTE DAVIS AND JOAN CRAWFORD?

Is Ryan Murphy actually thinking of reinventing the essentially PERFECT 1962 movie “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?” It featured two of the greatest all time movie legends and gay icons, Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, in their decline. In perhaps the best B movie ever made, screen queens Bette and Joan appeared in shockingly unflattering roles – each one desperate to out-act the other. (Coincidentally, it was also filmed at recognizable places in our own Hollywood neighborhood.) Fortunately, Ryan is NOT remaking the film. He’s documenting the bitter rivalry behind the scenes between the two actresses leading up to Baby Jane in an anthology series for FX called Feud. Sounds like fun, but it’s hard to picture Susan Sarandon as Bette – Jessica Lange as Joan seems more plausible. Surprise – Brad Pitt is co-producing with Ryan.

  1. Major lesbos. Look up the story of Bette’s lesbian encounter with Marilyn Monroe!

  2. “But you are Blanche….you are…..”

  3. Loved mommy dearest with Joan Crawford and I believe it was the three faces of eve Betty Davis played in…

  4. Loved mommy dearest with Joan Crawford and I believe it was the three faces of eve Betty Davis played in… Love them both..

  5. Jessica Lange is at the top of her game (her work in “Grey Gardens” was a masterpiece) and it’s great to see her getting so much work.

Too bad though, that so much of it of late has been for one-note-samba Murphy, whose dedication to camp sadly outmatches his ability to create it.

  6. Joan has a bad case of “brows”! Major lesbo look!

  7. Bette was in the classic “All About Eve,” not the “Three Faces of Eve.”
