WHATEVER HAPPENED TO SANTINO RICE?

Our favorite Project Runway loser is still the same ornery character he was on the show. (By the way, did you happen to notice on one episode of Runway that Santino’s “best friend” is Madonna’s exboyfriend Tony Ward? Small world, huh?) Five of the finalists on the BRAVO program were graduates of FIDM (The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) in Los Angeles. Namely, Daniel Franco, Guadalupe Vidal, Nick Verreos, Raymundo Baltazar, and Santino. After the reality show ended, the five graduates were invited back to FIDM to take part in a panel to discuss their success and answer students’ questions. Everyone said yes, except for Santino and the event took place without him. Why? Even though he lives in the area, Santino wanted his Alma Mater to fork over $5000 for his appearance!

  1. Arrogance just doesn’t wear well on has-beens! How mean!
    He forgot the Golden Rule:
You get what you give! One day the shoe will be on the other foot & he’ll be wondering why!
The school was right not to pay him for his time. He’s not worth that much dead either.

  2. He needs to make it in the business before he can start asking for a fee to be paid. At last count, I don’t think he’s won anything, and who wears his clothes. He’s a never was.

  3. Ugh, Santino Rice is what Julia Phillips referred to as “asshole without portfolio.” His clothes were the ugliest I have ever seen and were always falling off or tearing because they were stapled/taped/sewn onto the model, rather than actually completed. Yet “Project Runway” seemed fixed for him to get to the end. My roommate and I pegged him for “this season’s Wendy, who would be kept until almost the end” the very first time we heard him interviewed.
He wouldn’t even finish and they’d find an excuse to keep him on, while they would use that same excuse to get rid of other people. They even had to manipulate a contest down to the wire by suddenly making the contestants leave and “surprise” having others finish their work… Or is the whole show fixed? It seems so formulaic. (Also, I love Jay McCarroll, but Austin Scarlett was robbed!)

  4. Fidm charges big fees and has garnered lots of publicity from these alumni – that Santino wanted to be paid – seems reasonable to me – they all should have been paid – shame on FIDM

  5. Wow, what is this site?
Santino is awesome. I hope you losers chock on all of your bitter words.
FIDM sucks and are cheapskates. I went to the event and when it was announced that Santino would not be there(even though ever flyer said he would be)- over half of the assembled students got up and left. I stayed, but was dissappointed to not meet Santino. I completely understand why he wouldn’t come back to FIDM.
Daniel Franco, Guadelupe, Nick, and that other guy (Juan?) talked about nothing for an hour. Nick tried to take credit for all of Santino’s songs from the show and me and my friends just laughed. Nick teaches at FIDM and is probably the most bitter from the experience. Go Santino!
    Season 4 sucks
