Just kidding. Women still cannot drive – or do much of anything in Saudi Arabia without a male chaperone and heavy black burqa. We love this photo, but women’s rights in Saudi Arabia are no joke. It reminds us of how lucky we were to be born in a reasonably civilized country.

Seriously, the “religion of peace” is just the opposite. It keeps shackles on all of its adherents, except for the elect, who may do as they please. Millions of people are tortured, persecuted and murdered in the name of Islam every day.
Wise up all and keep your kids away from the evil beliefs that enslave so many who are helpless and long to be free.
Janet, there was an interesting article in the New Yorker about how women in western countries weren’t allowed to be educated, nor allowed to read anything up until about the mid 1800s, and even that was a stretch except for the most enlightened families. So, that being said, the Saudis, and other middle eastern countries, are about 300 years behind western civilization in human rights.
And, the Chinese are 200 years behind us, or maybe 100, in the same way the Native Americans got treated as compared to the Tibetans.
This is quite rascist.
It was in the 1970’s women in america were allowed to rent an apt without a man.

Mali is the latest country to face these restrictions. It’s hard to believe that fundamentalism is spreading throughout the world, instead of disappearing…unless you watch American rednecks like Mitt Romney & Paul Ryan being taken seriously by voters…then you realize that it is hardly surprising.

If you know the real history of many cultures around the world they were matriarchal and women were respected. With the advent of organized religion and patriarchy you end up with the kind of sick male dominated violent world we have today.
Religious nuts in America or overseas are all just a backlash against the small gains women have been making. Women and decent men everywhere need to stand-up and fight back against the anti-sex women hating freaks.
