ZSA ZSA GABOR: THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

It’s the end of an era. Zsa Zsa Gabor has passed away at the age of 99. For many years we reported on the adventures of Zsa Zsa, her troubled daughter Francesca, and her assortment of husbands. Back in the early ‘90s, we appeared on a daytime talk show with Zsa Zsa (the subject, of course, was gossip, which she loved) and she was affected, but quite nice and very entertaining. Later when she was married to “Prince” Frederic Von Anhalt we were invited to a party at her home and got to see the house. It had obviously been ostentatious at one time but had become rather run down and shabby. We could only enter a few rooms, but DID love the glass walls that parted and led outside to the pool area. Her Prince WAS charming and friendly – he loves publicity. Zsa Zsa’s friends don’t trust him but he IS quite a character – adopting all those young men and dubbing them “Princes.” Alas, now the house, which sold for around 11 million, will be torn down – we wonder what will become of the “Prince.”

  1. “For many years we reported on the adventures of Zsa Zsa, we appeared on a daytime talk show with Zsa Zsa,we were invited to a party at her home,we wonder what will become of the “Prince.”

Do you have a multiple personality disorder Janet or are you affecting ‘the royal we’ in your articles now.

    RIP Zsa Zsa

  2. What a character. Yes, may she rest in peace.

I can’t help but wonder about “the party” and if Zsa Zsa & her prissy Prince sprang for the canned cheese and Ritz crackers. I suspect the wine was in a big generic box.

  3. Do they still have that old white toilet setting in their yard?

I know a few years back there were photos of the landscape around their home and a big old white toilet was setting near the house (Evidently, it had been replaced in the house with a new one and the one toilet just sat in their yard.)

Maybe that’s where the frilly husband took his morning dump?

  4. Wasn’t Zsa Zsa also in the graduating class a year ahead of yours at Budapest Central High?

    Go Badgers!! 😀

  5. I didn’t like how he gave the media pictures of her in her bed, looking like a frump. She would not have liked that.

  6. SO true.

There’s poor Zsa Zsa–on her deathbed, looking like death eating a soda cracker!

    It is an OUTRAGE.

Hopefully, her mortician was a professional.

No doubt she looked camera-ready, post-mortem. There is some comfort in knowing that.

  7. now they are kicking him out of the home he shared with her. Sad.

  8. Actually, he presold the house several years ago (for a nominal $9–yes, NINE– dollars) in a deferred transaction.

By paying he a yearly fee, they were able to continue living in the house, while the new owner made the mortgage payments.

Though why there even was a mortgage–when Zsa Zsa left an estate reportedly valued ~$400 million, is a mystery.

One clue: root of the word itself… “mort” = “death.”

Surely the actual value of that house was fully paid many times over during the long years Zsa Zsa “owned” it.

The banksters win (again)! Yay! 😀

  9. Should add: obviously they were probably using loans taken out on the value of the house for living expenses, etc., but again, where was the “$400 million” tied up?
